Salutations Capsuleers, I'm looking to expand my reading collection and thought about purchasing the EvE novels (The Empyrean Age and Templar One).

For those who have read them, are they good? Would you recommend them to a fan of sci-fi?

There is also The Burning Life.

Given the current state of affairs; then yes, they are a great reading.

Hrm...

For someone not already into the EVE universe, TEA and T1 will be far less painful to read, since it won't be apparent how horribly they ignore the PF or play havoc with the universe. However, I am still somewhat hesitant to recommend TEA as reading for anyone, largely due to several bits of what I regard as objectively poor writing (the sudden pages of exposition in the middle of random scenes and the often nausea-inducing "sex scenes" - Karsoths pedo-orgy comes to mind - being my two main issues).

However, I'm also somewhat unsure if Templar One will make sense to someone both unfamiliar with the EVE universe and who has not read The Empyrean Age.

As has been said, there is also The Burning Life.

The books are a good read, but are a little inconsistant, with the Burning life being very different.

I would suggest "The Gap Cycle" by Stephen R. Donaldson. It is a series of 5 books very epic and very political.

Of course there is also the much missed Eve Chronicles. There are some very good short stories there.

So I'm no halfway through The Empyrean Age and I have to say it is a very enjoyable read so far. I hope Templar One is equally enjoyable which I believe it will be.

Sho neeta, definitely going to look into the "The Gap Cycle" after I finish reading the EvE novels. I read a few chapters of The Real Story in the bookstore and can see myself getting into a book/series like that. Thanks for the suggestion!
