On average for the week 34k is getting toward the high side. Average is 20 to 24k.

Paradise is like where you are right now, only much, much better.

I'd forgotten about D3, so that makes sense. But it isn't EVE, so the 'draw away' event just doesn't offer the same craving satisfactions as EVE does. P

We probably saw a dip when SWTOR came out, I remember the post last year from players saying how bad it was and how they had come back to EVE though.

I think Eve acually saw in INCREASE OF PLAYERS ONLINE post SWTOR becauase of the success of Crucible timimg with SWTOR

D3 is perfect example why EVE should never be a PVE game since competition is high and careberas move instantly when they only smell a better farming grounds.

It's not because Diablo games are mostly PVE. It's not about beating stupid AI over and over and over again.
It's difficult to explain to someone who has never played Diablo 1/2. But it's way different game world compared to any other game.

D3 probably had a small effect. Hulkageddon has a bigger effect. I wouldn't say 30k+ is low. Incarna release last summer, anyone?

For what it's worth, this is the weekend many college kids are moving their stuff back home for the summer months.

Granted, the first thing they'll do is get their game rigs back up and running, but give em a chance to get home first. Smile

That weekend/finals/college stuff doesn't work as an excuse, and never has, because similar excuses can be made for every other day. In the summer, it is said that there are less players because everyone is having fun outside. In the winter, people say that there are less players because it's not summer, which would bring an influx of players because of vacation time, etc etc.

Y'all look at the server graph lately? There's 10,000 less people playing today than a week ago. Barely 35,000 online during peak hours on a weekend.

But I'm sure the Inferno bear boost will give the PCU counter a nice bump, right? After all, with the mean griefers unable to pick on the honorable industrialists, lots of people will want to mine again!

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:
