@ Greyscale:

Thanks for showing that you are still reading the threads!

We would like to know if the actual Crimewatch mechanics have been finalized (at least, on the ideological level). The reason I'm asking about this is that the mechanics discussed after Fanfest sound broken to me.

For instance, let's talk canflipping. With current mechanics, the miner/victim can take their ore back (at the rick of losing their ship). Also, they have intelligence tools at their disposal - they can easily see in local if the thief has buddies in waiting.

The new system makes it extremely, disproportionately risky to save one's ore or items. If the victim "steals" the items back, not only they risk their ship, they will actually lose sec status for defending themselves! I can already see a certain alliance warping in Ibises and Velators on a "suspect" Hulk, with an ultimate goal of making the Hulk pilot -5. This will really rock for the miner - and there is nothing they can do except surrender their ore/items.

Also, just like with the current system, there is always the possibility of flipping with an NPC corp alt in an Ibis, now with even more invulnerability. And, of course, this breaks the traditional way of starting consensual duels. I know that dedicated dueling mechanics was promised, but it was not demonstrated or discussed.

All of these changes are conceivably to make the game easier and less harsh on new-ish players. The results will likely be different.

...And neutral RR. Yes, it is annoying and broken now. The new system adds just a tiniest little bit of risk (no more RR on Jita 4-4), and, depending on how exactly it is implemented, may be re-purposed for ganking.

Most importantly, the very idea that one can lose sec status for defending one's ship in high sec probably needs a bit of a review. There is a category of people who love PvP, yet stay in high sec precisely because it is not a "free-for-all" area like low sec and null. The highsec tactics are all different. It seems like the new changes are designed to push PvP to lowsec/null and to formalized wars. The proposed changes will not make highsec less risky and harsh for new players - it will likely be just the opposite. However, the sandbox will shrink and diminish in depth.

I am not sure if you considered giving out kill rights instead of sec status decreases? That is, if I kill a ship under suspect flag, the victim (or his corp, or entire alliance) gets 2 weeks of kill rights on me, including the pod. Bigger sandbox. Player-driven retribution. No obvious grief tactics.

Thanks for reading!

After CCP Greyscale's comment I don't think anyone is asking for a blog anymore. Inferno hasn't even launched. ...probably need to cool our heels for a while until there's something substantive to even talk about. 'Till then try F&I threads or little things... there is a crimewatch thread too.

The reason people were wanting a thread on it, at least imho, was because nothing was on sisi and some of us thought it was going into inferno 'cuz I guess we can't read too good. Now we know so meh... no need for a blog. I was planning on fixing my sec w/ tags but I don't feel like waiting for this so I'm off to null to sec up so I can put out some empire decs. Twisted

In answer of the neutral CS or T3 booster. if they are in a pos or safed up atleast you can move system
or buy a virtue set and probe them. <-- ways to counter

with a neutral CS or T3 booster you just see them jump with you to the next system and all you can try to do
is all go in suicide ganking bc's and loose sec status + 15 minute GCC meaning you can't even fight
there main gang that the alt was boosting in the first place.

Since these Booster are in so called leading places in a fleet ( squad, wing or fleet commander ) its dumb there
staying neutral .

Hey look, you named the way to counter a Neutral booster alt yourself. Get some suicide alts and gank away.

If you can fight in any system, what are you fighting over? I always assumed Hisec Wars were about either destroying enemy ships (in which case you really don't want to fight so much as ambush, so neut boosting's irrelevant) or taking down POSes (in which case the booster'll be in the POS).

Or put up your own neutral/POSed/SS booster and you're even.

Oh, and adding aggression to boosting would have pretty hilarious consequences for miners, incursionbears, and other people who use fleet boosts. It won't significantly hurt the people who currently use neutral boosters.
