Idea: Ship Tuning - Overclocking and reconfiguring

I had an idea about taking the idea of tuning a car or motorcycle to EVE ships. Being able to fine tune the modules on the ship to get max performance for your situation.

Tuneable ships
Adjustable weapons, instead of discrete range/damage/rate of fire between short range and longe range, a more flexible turret that lets you adjust them to your liking in a fitting station. Adjust it to that perfect range/damage output sweet spot.

Adjustable ship stats - Work similar to rigs, adjusting one stat negates another. Increase capacitor at expense of max shields, etc.

Maybe a new t3 ship that is unique with the ability to be tuned and reconfigured, expanding on the strategic cruiser idea. Because you could use the same module for many applications, it would be very expensive.

Overclocking
A skill or ship bonus that would allow you to overclock CPU or powergrid modules to get more effect. At the expense of more CPU/power. This would allow pilots with excellent fitting schools to put that extra cpu/power to work

Example
- Reducing the speed bonus from your MWD in turn reducing its CPU need. Giving you enough extra CPU to fit that EANM
- Increase the effectiveness of cap rechargers by increasing CPU use.
- Increasing capacitor amount in turn of reducing shields

I know many of these sound like they just replace the need for mods like capacitor power relays. That is the idea in a way, the benefit of the tunable ship is that you have the ability to FINE tune your modules and ship instead of the discrete module values.

Name specific rig & stat combos that you think are justifiable for existing. Also F&I ->

Ehm this is already in game through rigs and meta level items. If you want more rigs then say that and come with examples.

^This!

If you look at the various warp disruptors you will find that they each have a slightly different amount of CPU requirements. A lot of times I find that I will use a meta 2 (i think) warp disruptor so that I can get various other pieces of stuff active on my ship if CPU limited.

Also, that's what the mid/low slot modules are for. Need a boost to CPU? Equip a co-processor. Doing this will limit your tank/dps some but if you need the boost you got it. Same with cap functions and all the other ship variables. I understand what you were talking about but the mods give us the tools needed already.

So....exactly like modules, rigs and thermodynamics? Everything you propose is already possible in game with existing mechanics. What point would there be in adding another system that would pointlessly increase the already hefty complexity just to do the exact same thing?

Modules and rigs *are* fine tuning your ship.
