Ship Upgrade?

Hi,

I was hoping that I could get some help

I've been given a mission to build and transport a Minmatar shuttle, but I require a ship with 500m3 storage space. I don't think that any of the frigates have a cargo hold of this size, so which is the cheapest ship that I can buy with the lowest skill training requirements for this task. (I've currently got 1mill ISK)

Thanks in advance.

check if you can just fly the shuttle directly to the destination and repackage it there.

If not check out the Wreathe

Thanks for both your replies.

I'll see if I can fly it after I've built it. I would not have thought of that! Smile

If I can't then I'll go with one of DeBingJos's Probe setups.

Thank you.

The first setup would take about 4-5 days to get the skills to be able to fit those, and the second a couple days or so longer. It the OP is doing what I think he's doing, he's running one of the tutorial missions that has you building a shuttle and then transporting it to another station. If that is indeed the case, the mission will have probably expired before he could get the skills, and (if it is the same sequence that I went through for the Caldari State) would miss out on the free Industrial.

If the fly to station and repackage doesn't work out, another solution would be to work through the Advanced Combat tutorials. At the end of that line, you should receive your faction's destroyer (Mimmatar - Thrasher). Fit a pair of Exapanded Cargohold I's (Which only requires Mechanic I and Hull Upgrades I to fit and much less expensive), and it will take the 400 m3 cargohold up to 544 m3, which will fit that shuttle with room to spare. And I don't kow about the Thrasher, but my Caldari Comorant was a darn handy ship to fly on Level I missions.

If he replaces the T2 expanded cargoholds with the T1 versions and uses T1 rigs he would still have enough cargospace (672m3) for what he needs and he can learn the skills in a couple of minutes.

He needs:
Minmatar frig II
Astronautics rigging I
Hull upgrades I

That is only a couple of minutes to train.

Just fly it. You don't require anything significant to fly a shuttle. Just produce (or buy!) the shuttle, fly it to your mission agent, repackage it and complete the mission.

Agreed, often buying the shuttle/veldspar/whatever onsite is easier than going to get it. Just be sure all the mission requires is that you get the item to the agent, some require you actually go there to destroy a certain ship and get its cargo. Even if you buy the cargo then, it wont help since you wont have destroyed the target ship.

Contact me in-game and i'll hook you up.

First off, this is probably a new player,. as his corporation shows as still being in the starter corp. The 4+ million ISK is not going to be easy to come with unless he's got a friend or two that is playing also, or some kind soul just throws the iSK at him. Also, me personally, I just can't justify spending 3+ million for rigs on a ship that I'm only going to use for one specific operation, when I know later down the road I will be handed ships that were designed to handle the job and for significantly less ISK. For a few hours investment and a few thousand ISK, he'll have a ship that will do the job, and still be usable for at few months, as the destroyer, once you outgrow it, makes a very worthy salvage ship until you can get into something larger, like a Noctis.

Part of the reason I mentioned the path I suggested is that, just a couple months ago, I was in pretty much the same boat. Little money, knew no one, and in a starter corp. I had to be careful what I spent my ISK on. Getting into the Comorant as quickly as possible made the other three tutorial agent chains a lot easier to do, and while it may have teken a bit more time, by the end I still had a fairly decent chunk of my ISK left.

It takes less than a day for any race to train:

* Amarr Frigate 1 = 16m
* Amarr Frigate 2 = 1h 17m
* Amarr Frigate 3 = 7h 19m
* Amarr Industrial 1 = 33m
* Hull Upgrades 1 = 16m
* Hull Upgrades 2 = 1h 17m

Total Training Time: 11h 58s (9h 26m 40s if you are Amarrian)

which will put you in a Bestower, the largest low-skill Industrial. At level 4, the Minmatar Mammoth is bigger.

Cargo without rigs: 13318.98 m3
Cargo with 3x T1 rigs: 20256.51 m3

All scanning bonused T1 frigates also have a good amount of cargo (because moon probes are huge), so adding tech2 cargo expanders (takes almost no time to train Hull Upgrades 2) is all you need.

You can just build the shuttle in the station you need to deliver it in, if it has manufacturing slots there. If this is the tutorial mission, usually you just build it there then turn it in.

Yah, just fly the shuttle to its destination. Leave ship. Repackage it. Then complete the mission. You can then travel back to your agent in your pod.

Making Mountains of Molehills (8 of 10)

Objective: Build and deliver one Civilian Caldari Shuttle

The terminology of the mission objective is confusing as it implies that you have to move the completed shuttle to a different station after building it, but if I recall correctly the delivery destination is the same place you get the mission and the BPC and you just build it and click 'complete mission'.

When you accept the mission, you will get the insufficient cargohold warning if you are in a ship with less than 500m Cargohold. This is just an example of poor programming. The Eve Client doesn't check to see if you are already at the destination before issuing the warning.
