I guess he lost this 3.3bil Navy Mega also because of a "disconnect", and not being terrible?

When I was in Blues it was always the same story. The deccers are ridiculed and ingored, they might get a few kills from people who straggle to Jita for shopping, then someone in RvB takes notice, and the deccers get their expensive **** pushed back in by cheap T1 ships.

That kill is pretty dubious too. There's no possible way he only took 74k damage with that fit unless he had prior damage. With the lowest skills to still use that fit (for EHP boosting skills, namely mechanics, hull upgrades, shield management, and armor compensation) and the DCU II inactive and all of the enemy ships shooting explosive (lowest armor resist) I still get an EHP of over 100k.

So yeah, killmails need more context or fixed, depending on exactly how we arrived at this 74k number.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

it may or may not be the right number, but its not an unexpected number. The KM does not, and has never attempted to calculate effective hps - its always a raw figure, so it will always be significantly smaller than a buffer ships ehp.

Isn't this what pvp is about? Adapting to the situation? Also: It is more likely that he logged instead of disconnected. Anyway, it's a nice kill.

Ok, someone lost a ship for whatever reason.

OP should call random people in the phone book and tell them about this amazing story. Roll

The guy engages. he got plenty of kills that nobody would bat an eyelid about, on ships that should have enough staying power to hold on for backup (ie his last kills are all proteus on pvp fit battlcruisers), and RvB has backup. he is flying gallente, and if nothing else, gallente is fun then you die terribly, and pimped gallente is more fun, then you die even more terribly.

Its not forum splerge material - especially for the second loss, where what went wrong was pretty obvious.

1) EHP =/= HP. You can have 1 billion EHP but at the end of the day the total you take (without reps) is equal to your total Shields + Armor + Hull + (minor amount of shield regen). This means his total shield/armor/hull added to around 74,000. When you factor in resists the HP becomes "buffed" to the EHP number, telling you how long on a fixed DPS it would take to kill him.

2) Everything except the damage control is passive, therefore if he was really afk/dc'ed for that kill it wouldn't have made that much a difference.

3) There's a good chance that you are his main defending him since you're from RAZOR, the oldest alliance in EvE.

Ok I take my harshness back a bit, those Myrm kills in Proteus look like they might have been good fights.

Also solo is solo, so props for that. Next step is to get out of hisec Cool

Yeah, I realize the difference now but not just because of what you're saying, but because the damage done by the ships already factored in resists

I realize that.

Yeah, I don't quite follow this logic, but whatever. RAZOR may be old with respect to EVE, but I'm not.
I'm also not defending him. If he's truly dumb enough to go AFK repeatedly in ships like this then yeah, he's stupid and deserves every loss he gets. It's just odd to me that he'll PVP fit a faction battleship with dual cap boosters and then die (but not by alpha) without ever using them.

So, it looks like this guy has the ability to look up fits for ships and likes to throw isk away using absurdly expensive modules. Too bad he doesn't know how to use them. And why doesn't he use a vindicator instead of a navy megathron? He clearly has the isk for it.

what i find even more disturbing, is, how it take 12 ships or more, to kill just one.

& there was me, reading the title, & i thought a maller killed it solo by capping it out.

Nobody solo these days or what? What?

Yes it is quite disturbing that it takes a bunch of frigs and cruisers to kill fully deadspace/faction fitted navy battleship that is worth nearly 6 billions.Shocked

Allow me to add some proof that this probably was a disco. Take a T2 fitted but similarly active-tanked Navy Domi, and run it until non-navy cap charges run out:

http://test.true-sansha.com/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=89014
Quote:
Total Damage Taken: 234,487

That's a ~3400 tank assuming max use of heat, which iirc that was. And a 100k EHP buffer.
Oak's could be 6000+ tanked with links & implants just heating the reppers and no struggle for cap with any active-tank-piloting experience. Each cap charge can cycle both reppers + run tank mods.

6k dps is close to what this gang would put out. Any use of reppers should result in more damage taken showing up.

Not that his fit wasn't somewhat off, with 2 PG rigs, small guns and questionable DC2 vs EANM choice (better resists, but giving up the Navy ship's built-in hull bonus).

Possibly they panicked and forgot to inject cap while running their own neuts, or tried to bait-tank too low with no hull buffer, or distractions with their link alt, leading to just the ~EHP buffer being counted, but a disco is also very likely.

Remember kids, don't fly what you can't afford to lose.

That dominix kill is either disconnection, AFK, or completely moron pilot.

He has pretty much full cargohold of cap charges, and both cap boosters fully loaded. The only thing neuts can do to this setup is to make it burn cap charges fast. Until they ran out neuts have little effect. Same for ECM against drone boat. Drones will agress regardless whether the ship is ECMd or not.

Also the damage taken tells me that he did not activate his reppers. Navy dominix has around 35k HP by itself. And the showed ships have not enough alpha nor DPS to kill it fast enough.

On the other hand the megathron is pretty much plausible. It is passive fit with only large drones (and ECM drones) in the bay. When ECMd it has no way of defending itself against those small ships.

In both cases, congrats to the juicy kill.

You shouldn't have fitted ECM, it's just begging the guy to disengage and dock. TDs are better.
