Could an achievement feature being implemented in eve?
Is achievement systems compatible with sandbox MMOs?

Achievement feature in Eve Online, WTF?
Basically what you get in some mainsteam MMOs: A pop-up when you achieve a significative or useless event. You can collect them, search for them, share them with your friends. Corp achievements are also in...

Imagine...
You first destroyer, you first mastering of all frigate skills, your 7000th order, your 900 kills, your second capital ship,
your 200th player bump, your 20th level 5 skill, your first quafe, your 100 corpes, you 3th gank...

You get the idea, right? How does it sound to you so far? Like an abomination? though so. Sounds exiting? Might be!

Hold on, we have already the basis of an achievement system: CERTIFICATES!!!!

Still it requires the following improvements:
-Not only skill related but event and assets related
-Pop-up on your screen (still eve UI)
-easy to share through chats
-achievement score highly visible on people info.
- Corporation and alliance achievements

Are you seek already? Sorry for that. Can't wait for such feature? You might never find it in eve :s

Well, that is true that some players like me have trouble to stay/subscribe because of lack of motivation:
We love the game, the universe, the people and "friendly" environement, we love the features and would like to try them all. PVP, PVE, 0.0, WH, you name it.
The thing is that some of us require a litle bit more of motivation to achieve what you guys do every day.

Still, it might be a nice feature, even for the 'tough' players: You could be hunting a fleet running through the space trying to achieve "Catch me if you can: Go through 20 neutral or hostile sovereignty without dying"Lol How does this sound?

Going back to the concept: An achievement system is mostly the displaying and push of events and features already happening in the game. it does not affect the game, but it might affect the players and then the eve 'environment'.Do you think it will affect you?

.How do you think an achievement feature would damage eve?
.How would you feel about a corpmate sharing his achievement 'He got the fastest" ?
.Would you accept CCP spending ressources on such feeature (might take a while)

Feel free to comment, can't wait for your positive contributions, lol !

Ps: Playing for 3 years & still a noob, thanks for reading!

Achievements are the instant gratification crowd's way of feeling important. EVE Players are smart enough and patient enough to set their own long term goals and not have them fed to them by an achievement list.

No. Never.

Things are only impossible until they are not.

My achievements are piles of corpses in a hangar. No need for shiny "You Won" notifications.

I think they should focus on adding Hats to the NEX store rather than stupid achievements.

Yes, let's promote grinding and rote behaviour.

And by “yes”, I mean “no”. Set your own goals and make your own medals — it's the sandbox way.

Achievements are cool at the moment when you get them, but pretty useless afterwards. I don't think the idea goes well with a so-called-sandbox MMO, but I'd like to be taught otherwise.

Also, achievements for stupid tasks (like bumping someone) would be pretty annoying, because many people would start doing that just for the achievement (like shooting people with an RPG in BF3, because they told me to).

So, short answer: no
Long answer: Meh. If CCP wants to create smart achievements, why not.

Those are fun. I like "blood-soaked" achievements a-la "medals" for 10000 killed players, 80 hits in a row (there is no auto-targeting), 15 death blows streak, 1vs5 victory, "master" badges (better than 99% of other player results for previous week) etc. etc. combined with historical references (check World of Tanks) - it's whole new layer of immersion and way to show some suckers who you really are before popping them into smoking pieces.

I just can't imagine how many years it will take for CCP to implement basic modern MMO features.
