EVE Voice

I cannot seem to log into EVE Voice - the option does not appear when I right click on any chat tab. This is a problem I have had since I started playing EVE, however I never had any use for it until now.

EVE Voice is enabled in the settings menu, and I have re-logged to to see if this would force the setting into effect. No joy.

I have turned off my firewall to see if that may be causing the problem, it did not resolve the issue.

I do not have any problems with TS and Vent.

The curious thing is, about 2 minutes after I log into EVE, a message appears in the middle of the screen (the black box with white writing) "you have been logged ou of audio chat".

Can anyone provide any advice please? I am hoping I am computer illiterate as usual and there is a simple solution :)

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I also have this message in the "channel specific" section of the audio settings menu:

"These settings are channel specific, as such they require a character to be logged in with EVE Voice enabled. If you are logged in and have EVE Voice enabled there may be some connection issue, please contact customer support (via petition) if this problem persists."

I'm having the same problem.

only I've never had the curious message that IMoFol got, but the rest is the same.

not sure if this is right but were we get this message:

"These settings are channel specific, as such they require a character to be logged in with EVE Voice enabled. If you are logged in and have EVE Voice enabled there may be some connection issue, please contact customer support (via petition) if this problem persists."

there should be a set of options, only I'm not sure on that.

Thanks for the reply, Elod.

A very helpful person, also experiencing the same problem, believes it is an upload speed issue. I tested my upload speed at speedtest.net and it is a lousy 0.49mps, so this may be the cause.

I do not understand why this would create problems with EVE voice if I do not experience problems with other voice chat software such as vent and TS. I assume it is because it is an ingame system?

If anyone can suggest a workaround / solution to the problem. I guess the most obvious would be to talk to or change the ISP, but I really dont have that option where I am.

Cheers,

right give this a try:

logon on to https://forums.eveonline.com , and login using your game login details.

then click on the EVE Voice tab at the top of the screen (the button looks like some headphones with the word VOICE next to it)

when you do, it may promt you to intall a plugin, (its called the Vivox Voice Plugin).

install it!!!!!!! (i think this plugin is the Key) and then refresh the window,

and thats it, load up the game check eve voice is enabled and then it should work, it did for me

Note. was using Firefox not sure if this makes a differance.

Any problems or if my instructions are rubbish let me know!!!!!

Thanks for the suggestion, Elod. Your instructions were very clear.

Unfortunately, it does not appear to have worked for me.

I followed you instructions, installed the plug-in using firefox. However, once completed an error appeared in the EVE Voice window (in firefox) - I cannot remember exactly what it said (I closed it too quickly) but i remember it stating some kind of "Auth" error.

I launched the game, but it had not affect - no option to use EVE Voice appears when I right click a chat tab. I checked it was still enabled in settings and it was.

I restarted my PC (because this appears to be the solution to most IT problems!? :) ) but again, no change.

I opened EVE Voice in firefox again, and a different error appeared after a short period stating "Error - Undefined408"

Due to the "log out of audio chat" message I receive in game and this "auth" error I received, I wonder whether this may be some kind of authentication issue I am having? Just a stab in the dark Ugh all I know is computer says "No!".

Anyway, I am glad you managed to solve you EVE Voice issue Elod. I will continue to search for a resolution to mine :)

Thanks again,

MoFo

Hey, its me here, thanks for the heads up IMoFol.

Another possible issue is if you are using a router, we have recently bought a new router and ive not had the chance to see if voice works on it properly. (nor would i put it to that, as our internet has recently reached bearable speeds)

Apparently some routers don't handle Voice too well, although, that should also have problems with other clients like Vent or Mumble, perhaps, but it does not.

You can test for this simply by bypassing the router, if possible, if you have the know-how.
Or buying a new router, although, that is not suggested as its possibly a huge waste of money.

edit; tried out the voice thing and getting an Auth error there as well, just a heads up.

Hey Kadar,

I bypassed the router, but still no joy. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I thought I would install EVE Voice on my laptop, to see if it was a problem with my PC. I installed it via Internet Explorer. Whilst no "Auth" error seemed to appear this this, I still got the "Error - Undefined408" message after about 30 seconds.

Therefore, it certainly seems to be an account or, more likely, a local internet speed problem. Not a problem with my PC.

I have the same problem, it refuses to let me use EVE voice. No options, no Join Audio.

It appears to be related to Windows 7 as it works just fine on my Vista machine.

Any one have any suggestions? I have tried the suggestions in most of the posts i could find and none helped.

Hi HawtDanni,

Did you try the suggestion by Elod above?

Strange that it works on Vista but not Windows 7 for you. Makes it appear to be more than an internet (upload) speed problem as someone has sugested. Unless you have a different problem with the same symptoms :)

It lso appears more people than I reliased have problems with EVE Voice - but I guess no one worries about it until its needed.

I am lost with this at the moment. And I was really looking forward to getting my ass blown up in RvB.

I ran exefile.exe with the /vivoxlog option... the log shows it hangs on VivoxAmSip::AmProvider::Initialize on my PC, but the laptop blows right through it.... Looks like something on Win7 locks it up there.

Shocked That sounds technical.

Can I get an idiots guide to check if I am having the same problem?
