I wonder if with Dust, Eve players can simply keep blowing up settlements etc for laughs...what would be done about that?

I also have never understood why CCP are branching into consoles, I mean....Lets keep with PC games as the PC platform has so much more to offer than consoles, PCs give the developers something to play with at least.

I mean come on....the gfx on consoles suck so much hardcore a$$ its pretty funny compared to a decent PC/Lappy.

I blame unambitious game developers on that one.

Never would it be legally binding. In fact the idea that you can't take part in a class action is, dare i say it, wildly inappropriate?

I think Sony is learning the hard way about talking it's customers for granted. Sony is a dying brand.

Oh and we used a little officer mods. KIDDING! We used a lot of officers mods, A LOT! Because we don’t :censored: around in low-sec.

Hm. Well, so much for me getting a PlayStation 3 for Dust.

Maybe CCP will reconsider now that Sony has ****** over its entire user base.

Considering CCP's penchant for shitting on their own users, as well as the fact they are lying, cheating, scamming SOBs themselves, I think this match is made in Heaven.

The only problem is, many countries have laws on the books that say you can not have a third-party entity force you into a contractual obligation to give up certain rights. Denmark I believe is one, as is the United States. The enforcability of these items will come down to if Sony is doing this in bad faith.

Of course, if Sony says you can't sue them, then expect any sneaky lawyer to rev up class-actions against the game developers such as CCP.

If one believes what is said in this thread and in the one at slashdot this is not the case. In the US Sony _can_ arserape you.

I can't find a Supreme Court case that says that an entity such as Sony can remove your right to address grievances in such a manner. There may be case law in individual states, but as a whole they can't remove your rights.

Sony once threatened to sue me when I tried to get a failed diskldrive on one of the early VIAO models replaced.

Their argument? That I wasn't allowed to take the laptop out of the country which I bought it. This was, I hasten to add after the time when we needed carnets to move a computer from any NATO country*.

Because they have better lawyers than I can ever hope to afford I gave up chasing them and I haven't bought anything off them since.

Senator wants federal data breach law

This is something that sony caused. I'm just wondering if it applied to the US government as we well because they seem to have just as much trouble.

The United States claims Sovereign Immunity, and thus can not be subject to criminal law or civil law suits, unless the government consents to be sued.

The United States HAS passed laws which automatically waive its "right" to Sovereign Immunity in the case that a Federal Employee breaches their civil duty and causes damages, OR if the federal government breached a contract to which they are party.

Basically, people aren't interested/concerned about how corporations have been using contractual language to erode consumer rights - sometimes even causing us to waive our first amendment rights (I'm looking at you Microsoft, and your "no benchmark" clause which prohibits your customers from comparing MSSQL to other SQL engines).

LOL!

After Sony's second to last security breach, the big one, I made no plans to use a PS3, or any of their networks. The fact that DUST will only be playing on PS3 makes the plan sweeter.

It's about freedom.

Face it, you're all still asspained about DUST being a PS3 exclusive. Well guess what? DUST isn't meant for us. Don't you understand that? It's a game designed to appeal to a different user base. CCP don't want the same people who play EVE playing DUST. If you want to play it, you know what you have to do. Why so buttdevastated?

So, if Sony screws up again, information is compromised again, and our credit card numbers are stolen again, we will have no legal recourse?

I understand the technical hurdles that were overcome by going with PSN instead of XBL, but honestly, this should have been a PC game.

Gonna have to use a fake ID.

Lol I just now read this on the BBC. Essentially states

"Listen we **** up... a lot. But we're really tired of being sued for our own incompetence (multiple database breeches and non encrypted data is preventable.). So if you guys wanna play online we're gonna need you to sign this.."

So that 20 buy in fee for DUST... does it have to be via PSN or can I pay another way so that sony can't get any of my personal info.

Thats right. Not all EULA's hold water legally in real life. I wouldn't be too worried about this. It's some Sony idiot being stupid.

ps. I have stopped buying games to my ps3 for at least a year now. It is unfortunate that Sony is really doing their best to erode my confidence in them. I guess it means I wont be buying dust either. Too bad.
