Mining might have slacked off a bit according to CCP Diagoras' numbers, but Hulkageddon so far hasn't really managed to flinch the mineral market so far.

http://ore.cerlestes.de, check 'market trend' (don't forget Hulkageddon started the 28th, not at the beginning of the graph)

Operation WRITE DOWN ALL THE THINGS!!!  Check out the list at http://bit.ly/wdatt Collecting and compiling all fixes and ideas for EVE. Looking for more editors!

Mining for isk? Isn't that hard? and involves Work and effort?

I've never mined in eve and I have made billions, sometimes 1 or 2 billion within 10 mins of logging on :) Why can't you?
Some people don't mind working.

And for some, the journey is the reward.

I do not mine for ISK, but for the mining.

If I want ISK, I use a more time efficient method and sell PLEX.

It isnt about making isk, it is about having fun, just that isk is a tool, I make it pretty much passively on the market while I have fun in ships in space and even while I am having fun in ships in space. I dont really think mining is fun for long periods lol absolutely no variation.

Then again I only play with one account and one character for fun only.

>_> Oh man I am embarrassed for you just reading that Asterix. Pride in ignorance o_o terrifying. Contrary to popular belief, If you could have sold something for 70m but sold it for 50m, you did actually take a loss of 20m. The time you spent working was worth 70m, so you just gave away 20m worth of time.

I know it might be a tiny little turtle bit hard to understand. But when you exert effort it is worth something, and short changing yourself is the same as giving away money.

and this philosophy is why speculators crashed the economy and had tax payers bail them out NOT because they lost money, but because they didn't make as much money as expected, which they interpreted as a loss instead of a lesser gain.

Yes, yes. That is exactly why the economy collapsed. Because of speculation. Right.

Anyways, besides the fact that that is wrong it has nothing to do with what I am talking about. I am not saying selling your ore now is losing money because you -could- wait a year and sell it for more. That is not what opportunity cost is. That IS uncertain and that is not a good investment.

But knowing you -can- sell the ore right now and invest that ISK -right now- and start making more returns on that ISK for the entire year before you would have sold the ore IS guaranteed so you have to consider its potential to make you more money when you consider its total value over a years time. It does not matter if you do or do not understand this. Ignoring something that is true does not make it less true in the same way that achieving less does not make you deserve more.

today I did a L4 mission in empire.
What did I find inside the first gate? 1.3 million units of Pyrox.

Now, if you put a couple of ECCM mods on your hulk, I could have mined ore for about 75-80 million isk in that room alone, and only the most dedicated suicide ganker would have been able to kill me.

Superior use of game mechanics will triumph every day.
Eve never was, and never will be, a solo-player game. If you are a miner, go join forces with a few mission runners and have them aid you getting private roids.
