What does it take to get an ISD to come police the "Help" chat channel?

The Help channel in game is being plagued by people scamming, recruiting, and spamming ISK. Can we get someone in game to police the channel. This is crazy. People have filed petitions and nothing is happening.

You can right click report ISK spammer to deal with those people. Scamming people is largely up the players who are scammed to petition if it was done in a channel where the person actively advertised a scam and it was against the rules to do so. I am not really sure on what the rules in help are though. I would imagine if they idle in help and private convo that it is kosher to CCP.

I can tell you for sure that CCP is never going to have some watchman on the help channel, that would be ludicrous. They will just sort through petitions like they always do and take action when they get to it. I don't imagine the shitting up of some channel is a very high priority for them.

ISD often moderates Help but it appears to me that their ranks have been culled by something.

CCP does feel that Help is important enough to keep on track that bans have been handed out - some of them with serious lengths.

The root issue is that ISD plays patty cake by warning 10 times over instead of 1 warning and then kicking or muting the troublemakers out. Every once in a while a GM will step in and gets things back under control when a full riot is on - but not nearly often enough.

The way to do it is the same way everything else is done in the game.

Warning, 2 week ban, 4 week ban, permaban.

None of this kicking them out of the channel or anything.. They chose to join, play by the rules or end up playing WoW.

I hope ISD or the GM team can sort something out soon..... it's not like its going to cost CCP rl cash when new players use the help channel and think 'what a bunch of wankers' and go back to another mmo Oops

Hello everyone,

It is not the whole of ISD which can moderate the ingame Help channels, just the same as not everyone in ISD will moderate the forums or deal with bughunting.

The ISD:STAR team is the one responsible and we usually are able to have one or more members ingame. However as you know, ISD are simply players devoting some of their spare time to volunteering and as such, there are just some times when there is none available.

I am quite sure all of you who like the Help channels nice and clean see that the problem is in the number of STAR members available and I therefore encourage you to apply to become an ISD:STAR with a meaningful application at this website.

If they ragequit over :words: said in a public channel, chances are good they wouldn't stay past the trial anyway. Even if they would I don't think they would be the demographic that CCP is targetting.

Can not leave "help" channel any more than can "leave" Local. It's a mandatory part of the game for any account under a month old.

You can minimize and ignore it though.

You can leave "Help", but can't leave "Rookie Help". Don't confuse these two channels.
