EVE Original Soundtrack

I was watching a review for Guild Wars 2 when they mentioned about its beautiful visuals. I said to myself,
"Yeah, it is impressive, and EVE has that too.."

Then they talked about big battles, server vs server PvP.
"Nice, but EVE, with huge fleet battles, plus the upcoming integration with DUST 514, is way more impressive..."

But then they talked about the music. How beautiful, how apropos it is as it plunges you into its fantasy world.
"Wow, they're right. Jeremy Soule is an awesome composer. It makes their legend feels alive.. "

I wish we have that too.

We are of course, not talking about random songs that we can get from our MP3 playlist.
We are talking about original soundtrack that adds to the immersive experience.
A great background music that accompanies important moments during gameplay will massively amplify the sense of immersion.

Of course, I hope it is something that CCP will work on on top of, not instead of, other important gameplay elements.
Hopefully CCP will find another Jeremy Soule out there for EVE.

If done right, the music will be defining EVE as its own universe, its own legend.
If we are lucky, there'll be songs that when you hear them, they remind you the rich backstory of each of the races in New Eden.

In before all the "EvE has sound?" comments.

If you use the search function you'll find a load of other threads documenting the discussions surrounding a new soundtrack.

Obvious troll.

Eve doesn't have sound.

Music is as driving factor for a lot of people. A lot of the time I'll turn Eve's sound off and have music playing in the background, whether through my phone or through some other device.

I've felt the same way you have since I've been playing through the Assassin's Creed games. I noticed that the musical soundtrack was incredible and provided a deep mood to the game. I have wanted to see something like that in Eve Online.

I do have to bring this up, however. Despite my love for the AC games, their soundtrack had a purpose because it was a part of the direction of the game, whereas Eve has no specified direction and therefore creating a blanket soundtrack might be difficult. There does need to be some new music, but I'm not sure how. I'm definitely not a composer.

GW2 accomplished it, but it may be under certain conditions. It'd be pretty funny to have epic battle music going on in the background as I'm rigorously trading on the market, though.

I did find some of them. But beside the fun "EVE has sound?" comments Smile, many of the replies ended up suggesting others to "just tune in to EVE radio", or "people who PvP won't listen to them anyway", or "just make your own playlist".

It almost like we are giving up on EVE when it comes to its audio elements.

So I start this thread to see if other players also share my view that EVE soundtrack has been neglected a little bit,
and as Quade Warren put it ,

"I've felt the same way you have since I've been playing through the Assassin's Creed games. I noticed that the musical soundtrack was incredible and provided a deep mood to the game. I have wanted to see something like that in Eve Online."

And hopefully we can suggest something constructive for CCP to work on.

For example, Quade also brought up something important, that the music background has to be appropriate with the player's action.

When in trading stations, the music should be relaxing. Docking in Jita should triggers songs that reflect Caldarian bureaucratic corporate culture, while in Amarr stations you will notice a more religious tone of melodies.

"Epic battle songs" on the other hands should be triggered when you activate the acceleration gates. If you're facing Guristas, the pirate-like songs will portray their lawlessness. If your mission is against the Gallente, there will be their military songs accompanying your battle against their navy forces. Smile

I rather enjoy coming across Bitchin' Music Gates in missions.
