I understand that vanity items in games are supposed to be expensive however when you apply a real money analogue to the equation you end up with a situation where in order to keep in game prices high the real money analogue must be even higher. i am sure this has been brought up before but i find it hard to justify the prices of NEX items. the first mistake that CCP made was linking the new NEX currency to the PLEX. especially considering the very small exchange rate they applied. the value of a PLEX comes from it's steady value as well as it;s use as a time code. so linking vanity items to a preexisting item with a set real life analogue as well as a set in-game value made the micro-payment system nearly impossible. additionally players imediatly noticed this problem with overpriced vanity items and engaged in multiple protests where they attempted to blow up npc stations via suicide ganking. considering such a strong resentment the prices should have been fixed right than and there.

for those of you who think the prices are reasonable let me give you a little math lesson. the average item on the nex costs between 2 -3k AUR now when you consider that a plex converts into only 3500 aur. the plex costs about 20USD a piece. now for a full set of clothing lets say the item values are 2000 2500 and 4500 1000 that totals around 10k aur. a total of 4 plexes give or take. 4 plexes at 20 each is conservatively equal to to 80 USD now considering for 80 dollars i could walk into marshals or target in the real world and get myself either a leather jacket if it was on sale or probably about 5-6 dress shirts.

Now if a CCP member would like to explain in how their infinite wisdom they allowed a virtual commodity consisting of a wire frame mesh wrapped in a texture that probably only took several hours to design and render can cost as much if not more as clothing in real life i am listening. for those of you who dont shop for clothing this amount of money could buy 2 A list games at abut 40 ea

typically in most mmo's a single vanity item doesent exceed 5-10 USD. however in EVE Online vanity frequently items exceed 20USD EACH. it really makes me laugh when you call it a micro transaction business model just because of how sa and greedy it makes CCP Look. the EVEN SADDER THING is that there are idiots buying this stuff. i guarantee that prices would have dropped if people just held onto their wallets and let the NEX Bomb in terms of revenue generation.

Personally if I wanted to play at dressing up dolls I'd buy a copy of Bratz.

Did we roll back to Summer 2011 or something?

Just make it so you can break down PLEX and get rid of AUR that way you keep one thing you can buy on market for isk and has a use for people who want to play dolls and for everyone else it is just game time.

Wasn't this big new 2 years ago????

What you don't understand is that in Iceland a cup of tea probably cost you around 5 quid so paying 40 quid for a internet space barbie whatever shouldn't suprise you.

The boys and girls from CCP have to prop up the Icelandic economy somehow.

The NeX is a luxury virtual items store, not a microtransaction store. CCP doesn't need to justify the prices of items to anyone except the target customers.

Does Gucci have to justify the $4000 price for a handbag?

Where does CCP claim that the NeX is a MT store?

Solution: If you can't afford it or don't want it don't buy it. Don't be a whining scrub.

It was certainly intended to be one.

Delete NeX.

Whether or not you win the game matters not.  It's if you bought it.
