So i've been playing for a few months now, still got about 70 days left on my subscription, and I'm defenitely planning to play eve a long, long time. :P What has been bothering me however is how often you would need your API key for low/nullsec corps, and tools (Currently trying to get EVEmon working), however when you type in API on Evelopedia, you get a load of results that are often named strangely and don't really help that much.
So my question is, how do I create/find my API key?
Thanks ^^

If you still have questions after this please post them here.
It's easier to explain after you read soem info on it in the first place.

I remember a website had a link leading me to a limited API key creation page that wasn't the same as the customizable API key, maybe it was the old legacy key, I don't know.
You'll want to make different keys, one with only kill mails for eve-kill.net or battleclinic, one with characters and skill queues for recruiters, a full one for 3rd party tools you have on your computer like EveHQ... it's up to you, but I'd recommend that.

Hm... EVEmon is working fine now, but I'm wondering... for lowsec/nullsec corps' required API keys... What boxes should I tick? o.o I'm not really sure if I want them to see all my skills and items/cash, etc... I've got my contact list, character info, kill log, and war stats checked atm... Any else I should be checking generally speaking?

Usually those corps only need the permanent key to verify forum and sometimes TS access; your kills / losses are all updated from your CEO's API.

One warning I will give, because I'm feeling like white-knighting, if they ask for a deposit after receiving your API key, run don't walk. Also, don't let them move stuff for you that you are not ok with losing.

I'm generally extremely careful with trusting people, as I know how gladly PvPers mess with carebears such as myself, so I -HOPE- I won't get backstabbed/scammed/whatever once... Even though it will happen xD
Either way, first things first, I'll have to get my EVE voice chat working (damn router ports...) and get a computer that can actually run EVE... All my questions about API keys are answered though, thanks.

It is still possible to make old limited/full API keys but if you dont really need those, the new keys are much better because you can easily check what information key includes.

Old legacy API key creation: http://community.eveonline.com/api/default.asp
New API key creation: https://support.eveonline.com/api/

Anyone that has a clue what they're doing, when requesting a key, will either tell you what boxes to tick, tell you the mask, or give you a link like the one that Tau Cabalander posted, which sets everything for you.

Anyone asking for a 'full' or 'limited' key isn't paying attention.
