markeedragon responds to the question, "What if Game Companies Embraced RMT?"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZprC-x7gHAg

He argues that fully sanctioned RMT in games is trending upwards, just as the free-to-play model was some years ago. As a few companies presently embrace RMT, he believes that the future holds a landscape where sanctioned RMT is common.

It's not about if games will get RMT, but when.

You can delude yourself all life long, but it's been done, it's been found profitable (it's a parallel or even subsequent evolution after F2P) and it will spread out more and more.

We are irreversibly going towards a digital era, a digital life. Everything will eventually become more and more affected by computers. Our RL jobs will slowly drift towards being computer-ized and in the end we'll live on what you make in virtual environments.

Those who won't, will look like those 70 old who just refuse to learn to use a cell phone or a computer "by principle". The dinosaurs.

Sadly, the last year expansion has been handled in a CCP-esque way, that is the worst possible way to present a new concept yet CCP still exists because THEY are as emergent as their games and their gamers.

They borked Incarna hard but the business model was going in a good direction. They could have introduced purely vanity items like GW2 with no "gold ammo" if they were not stubbornly greedy and did not vastly underdeliver a basically empty WiS.

Demanding CCP to stagnate forever in your early 2000 business models will just keep EvE anchored to early 2000 ideas, the rest of the world will just zip past us, the once emergent leaders.

As a player of Project Entropia (now know as Entropia Universe) I can say they evolved just fine and implemented all sorts of mechanics that made it possible for some to make 6 digits and for others (those who in EvE just pay for PLEX to get ISK) to pay $50 a month, both kind of players have been factored in and organically work in that game.

What I see in EvE are the same guys preaching on exterminating miners and how though they are and "EvE is REAL" and "game of consequences", but when it's the time to prove their mettle, they squeal against any change like a bunch of p*ssies.

Not hard to find the value of an ISK.

According to this page, one ISK is worth 0.0079 dollar.

Oh, and RMT should never be legalized or made possible in any way (besides using AUR in the EVE store which I will always support) because it would cause waves upon waves of bots.

But on the other hand, bots = cheap minerals = cheap ships = moar expencive toys for me = good?
