Hello all,
I am semi experienced in manufacturing but was wondering if anyone had an hard data or rules of thumb for procuring amounts of minerals.

I was wondering if anyone had some good ratios, or average percentages, each mineral type is used in manufacturing t1 ships and modules.
For instance, on average for every 10k trit i use, i need X mex, and Y mega, and Z zydrine. Or on any given project, 30% of total minerals trit, 18% pyerite, and so on and so forth.

This knowledge would help me a great deal in spending large quantities of isk on minerals through a corp/alliance level ore buy back programs.

Thanks,

I like to have my cake and eat it too

- Look through BPOS
- Enter data into spreadsheets.
- Find ratio for yourself, lazy.

I've gotten into the habit of buying round numbers (example: 500,000,000 Tritanium) and play it by ear whenever I go shopping.

I stock-up on stuff when it is cheap (I have an obscene amount of Noxcium, Zydrine, and Morphite bought while they were much lower), but there are others like Tritanium that I just can't keep in stock.

Pyerite, and Mexallon are also hard to keep in stock, so I also tend to purchase them on every market trip. The other minerals don't need to have their stock replenished nearly as often.

I don't keep as large a stock of moon-goo, as it is far more expensive, but I still buy a bit more than I need when I go shopping and the price is right.

I buy all my materials with buy orders. I only buy from sell orders when I'm a little bit short and can't wait for a buy order to be filled.

I made a spreadsheet which gives me several things including how much minerals I need to build a, b and c numbers of x, y and z - where x, y, and z is all the bp's I own.

Didn't take very long, or require spreadsheeting V.

I think at least one of the bpo websites will do an order tally for you as well.

One thing I find most helpful about my sheet, is that assigns an isk value to each mineral order, and a isk total to the full order, which allows me to tweak numbers produced to fit my available capital. the isk value for each order means I can cross check my data entry when entering the order into eve before committing, as thats a place where things can go pear shaped.

Reasons that I do not stockpile much as Tau does, include the fact that during the rise in mineral prices I was turning over my entire capital at a margin that was higher than the daily rate of increase of cost of my basket. If I had for example overstocked zydrine, then i'd have been building less space ships and selling less space ships at a profit.

Nothing wrong with stockpiling, but bear in mind whether or not you easily apply your capital to the market or not - if so stockpiling may not make sense.
