Since a while my client won't get behind the splash screen.
On the console I just see this:

An exception has occurred. It has been logged in the log server as exception #1

If I try to start the game with the LogServer I got tons of red lines. Here you can find the logfile (I've uploded it to my webspace): http://www.martin-fernau.de/files/public/2012.05.07.17.52.35.ERRORS.lbw

No clue what to do :-/

Thanks

Having exactly the same issue, anyone have any ideas?

This is one of several failure modes I've encountered in the last week on my main game machine, I'll post when I've figured out what the brain damage is.

Though I'd double check your winetricks includes (or lack thereof).

Without wanting to sound like a noob (even though today is my first day on Linux!) how do I check that? I've followed this and also this ... I presume these winetricks packages (is that the right term?) are what we need? The CCP Log Server info may as well be in mandarin, there is so much data there and not a lot of clues as to what any of it means. I also get this error message when trying to do anything with wine:

p11-kit: couldn't load module: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/pkcs11/gnome-keyring-pkcs11.so: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/pkcs11/gnome-keyring-pkcs11.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Could this be part of the issue?

Going on this, I assumed you meant to run:

env LANG=en_US.UTF-8 LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8 wine explorer /desktop=EVE1,1920x1080 "C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\eve.exe"

However, still getting the same localisation errors in the log server.

Found a solution, when adding the DLL overrides in winecfg they need to have a * in front of the name ie.

*msvcr100 (native, builtin)
*msvcr90 (native, builtin)
*msvcr80 (native, builtin)
*msvcrt (native, builtin)

I'd initially added them without this, as soon as I changed them it worked perfectly :)

Neither the LANG "hack" nor the DLL "hack" changed anything for me. I just get this damn exception on startup :(
But I need to mention that I also have tons of "d3dx9_xy" entries in my winecfg. Is the correct?

As I got asked ingame via mail if I solved my problen but don't want to pay 1M CSPA-Service ( P - yes, I just don't click yes on every panel sorry ) I will gave my answer here:

Yes, I solved my problem by reinstalling the game again with a fresh wine environment. In the end I don't know what the problem was. I'm just happy that it works again.
I Hope I don't need to reinstall the game every month

Just a request.

If you solve your problem (and I'm happy if you did), please modify the title of your original post, adding something like "[SOLVED]", or the like, so who has problems similar to yours, can read the thread and find the solution you used.

TYVM.
