Considering all the mentions of what the Chinese government refers to as the "June 4th Incident" in this thread, it's probably just a matter of time before EVE bans are being handed out by the Chinese government instead of CCP.

Honestly, I'm surprised Chinese players are permitted to play a Western title on a Western server in the first place.

it is better to ban 10 innocents than to let 1 guilty escape concerning the PRC

Actually there‘s no such a prohibition in China.
World of warcraft is more popular and mainstream than EVE in China. But the government never prohibits wowers from playing severs outside mainland China (even in Taiwan), cause games make no threat against its governance.
I even can buy games from Steam with RMB. I just bought Skyrim, the Sims3,Civilization5 and so forth on Steam.
I also bought EVE cdkey through Steam. It's much cheaper...

I don't know about you guys, but the vast majority of Eve RMTers I've noticed were, let's say "Eastern European," and they use bots exclusively. Before Serenity existed, I used to blow up a lot of Chinese players in lowsec. If they were RMTing, they were doing it the least efficient way possible, because they were usually flying suboptimal ships and there were clearly human players at the helm because man did they squeal when they died. They weren't RMTers, they were just clueless empire pubbies, just like the rest of you. I'm sure these guys are no different.

Indeed, no RMTer stay in low sec, most of them are in high sec for questing or farming as renters in null sec.

And the main stream of the chinese players have already declare to against all the actions related to RMT

Blade. led or maintained the defense fleet, with Talos Coalition, Black Star Alliance, and HUN Reloaded help; a notable contributor was Blade. Chinese corp Great Sage Equaling Heaven. That corp contains “water sky,” a Chinese player who was particularly helpful in illuminating Chinese server Serenity politics and practices. The corp claims to have a very strong stance against RMT and macros; usually I’d mock that sort of thing, but water sky seems pretty chill so let’s give them the benefit of the doubt.

Actually there are several Chinese RMTers in TQ, and we have several actions to against them to protect the profit of the whole chinese captains community.

http://www.evenews24.com/2012/02/28/chinese-tear-farmers-strike-high-sec/

We have killed a lot raven navy issues with totally the same fit, and verified they are high sec RMTers.

It is a strong stereotype to Chinese players, actually we are flying in TQ for fun as well. The Chinese PVPers are always to be recognised as Japanese captains. lol
We have an action last year to occupy a corner in syndicate and the surrounding alliances spend more than one week to know we are Chinese rather than Japanese.

Currently, we set up our base in Stain and welcome t o come, friends.

Since CCP requires players from China to play on their own server due to an agreement with a hosting company over there (and apparently this relationship has the blessings of the govt.) they are well within their rights to require players in China to restrict themselves to that server.

It is unfortunate that that server is currently down, but apparently another company is taking over the service and preserving all account information.

It "seems" as though CCP is being rather strict about players in China not playing on the main server, which would indicate the best course of action is to remain patient until the Chinese server re-opens. I say seems because we really don't know all of the pertinent details on either CCP's side or the Chinese players side.

I have little doubt that at least some of these bannings were due to RMT activity, and of course according to the forums everyone banned for that is innocent. Smile However I also would not doubt that some of them are simply because Chinese players are supposed to wait for their server to re-open.

Not really seeing a conspiracy here.

I've known that it's been around for a while, but I like how the mainstream media is giving attention to the dead dried up baby vitamin capsules in/from China and I was thoroughly disgusted with these baby tortoises who are sealed in a small plastic pouch in a herbal liquid, sold as a necklace keepsake to people and are expected to "last" 1-3 months before they suffocate and die.

Not much sympathy left.

CCP has stated (in the EULA, I believe) that they will ban accounts associated with IPs that commit RMT. You can petition them for clarification/defense.

This is frankly probably what happened. Via the VPN they appeared at the same IP as where botters/RMTers played from. It's not CCP discriminating against Chinese players on purpose, but CCP being harsh on botters/RMTers behind VPNs, which they cannot distinguish from anyone else behind the same VPN (that's the whole point of a VPN).

You are probably out of luck. Even if you can prove that your friends really did nothing wrong, CCP will not want to help since they probably do not want to cause an international incident by helping Chinese citizens break the law.

I care absolutely nothing about anything happening in china. Here where I live, chinee are costantly being arrested for pirating anything and everything, a lot of the time the same people more than once. Last week I read how they were grinding up dead baby flesh into powder to be sold as "medicine". Disgusting people, who have no idea how to flush a toilet or wash their hands in a public crapper either. I decided to avoid my local mall food court after I saw the cook scratching his balls...while cooking......

Most of them don't actually have toilets in China, nor do they in Japan or Korea, but that's a bit of a different story since it has to do with just their way of life rather than bad sanitation. They do have a large pirating problem in China, but that has more to do with government regulation on legal modes of trade than the people themselves.... also we have people in the U.S. who own slaves still, very illegally. Does that make the whole population of us terrible? certainly not. Quit your xenophobia and racism.

On another note, I'd rather not have the Chinese players on the same server, simply because of the implications it would have with the Chinese government. What happens when they request our username/passwords in order to monitor their citizens? That or hacking of the servers to gain access to communications between Chinese and citizens of other countries.

Just my 2 cents. The Chinese people themselves aren't necessarily bad, but their government is a different story.
