Hi,

i wonder how exactly u upgrade, replace a existing POS with dozen of anchored modules? Can u simply offline -> unanchor ->scoop the tower and than place the new tower there or do u have to un-anchor every single module beforehand?

thx Andy

all modules have to be unanchored in order to anchor a new POS

Um, so i have to unanchor every module and if i don't scoop those, anyone can grab them while they flood around and waiting for the 30min timer of the new pos right?

yup!

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Yes. If you don't want that to happen, scoop them up as you unanchor them.

At least it doesn't take 5 minutes to unanchor and reanchor each and every mod as you're doing it.

True, though it is still a hassle.

That's why I always recommend starting with a large tower if at all possible.

I replaced my first medium tower with a large after about 2 months.

TIP: Use a Blockade Runner with a MWD to pick-up modules as they are un-anchored.

Or just move them to your freighter using the anchoring interface...

I think it might be easyer just anchor and online that larger tower nearby, move all those structures there and then take down old one? Get production going with minimal downtime and dont leave tons of structures to thiefs to take Blink

Yeah i also considered this, since the main problem are overlapping production times of the old installation. So i don't want to stop production completely.

I also consider just buying a freighter and after i'm done selling it again, since i normally have no need for it since i use Push for my logistic needs.

Thx for all the ideas

bye Andy

Okay, that's really clever, now that un/anchoring time is only 5 seconds Big smile

1. Park a cargo ship about 3 km from the force field.
2. Unanchor any module. This takes 5 seconds.
3. Anchor the module next to the cargo ship. Anchoring takes 5 seconds.
4. Unanchor the module. This takes 5 seconds.
5. Scoop the module with the cargo ship.

When I was doing it, I did it from next to the tower, and I seem to remember being able to cancel the anchor and have it move anyway, but it's been ~3 months since I touched a tower.

But at the very least cleaning up the interior mods is mostly painless.

Hey i did it or at least somehow.

All those great tips and u all did forget the most basic and important :)

So here it is for your amusement: Check your damn STANDING before u even consider upgrading!Twisted

Now i see you all already giggling, but yeah i perfectly smoothly organized everything, cleared all arrays, labs, unanchored like 40 modules, only to than sit in my hauler clicking "Launch for Corp" on my new shiny tower and get this little standing message, after 10 seconds of thinking i fully realized what i just did :p

So the best tip someone already gave is: Start with a large tower if u can afford it, since u probably wont have the combined standing to later upgrade and end up buying a new corp and have the hassle of opening offices and shuffling all corp inventory around.

Whoops! I've never done a HiSec POS, but I have heard of that happening to people before.

Or, boot out the people who are dragging down your standings just prior to downtime. Then re-invite them after the standings re-calculate over downtime.

(It's a minor hassle, but gives you 7-days to anchor new towers.)

I was under the impression that you could not reanchor a module after the tower it was linked to was taken down.

I have not tried this myself but if you offline and unanchor a tower do not all the modules anchored near it automatically unanchor?

Or are you not permitted to unanchor the tower if there are local modules anchored to that tower?

either way I thought you had to scoop all the modules and relaunch them after the new tower was up.

Just like if you destroy a tower you can then scoop all the modules that were anchored to it if you did not blast them.
