Hmmm people looking for fail, well I'm in POSHU, soooo fail is a recurring theme, we have lots of fun, we get a lot of kills (well sometimes) but we also have moments of utter fail on a regular basis.

On Fri 16th Nov, after what had been a pretty disastrous month so far for our KB, we were scanning and rolling as you do, our scouts shout out they had some poss targets doing cap escalations in a site, bloodlust immediately rises to maximum, fleet is called for and scouts told to get eyes on the hostiles.

Fleet is quickly formed, everyone wants to get some green on the KB to make up for our poor month, a bunch of T3's, Proteus, Legion, Loki's, are ready, a bunch of Guardians, HIC's and a Bhaalgorn are all set, so lets get things rolling, where's the hostiles ? J101553 a C6, we have to go through a C6-C4-C4-C6 chain to get to them, off we set, we sit the fleet on the entrance to the hostile hole, scouts are feeding us intel, Noctis and Chimera, at the site, plenty of wrecks that they are busy sweeping up time to spring the trap.

We jump in and warp to scout, get point on the Noctis (full of lovely loot) get a couple of points on the Chimera and start to blap, well we tried to, a Domi warps in with smarties, starts to get rid of our drones, the Chimera goes into triage and starts repping the Noctis, our dps is doing nothing, then a Moros warps in, ok guys, orbit the moros at close range, get under his guns so he can't shoot you, that was the plan, didn't work though.

Bhaal pilot, I'm down, what !! how the F**K, that is quickly followed by a Zealot a Guardian and a HIC, WTF is going on, the call is made to get out (obviously) as we are getting out, another couple of Guardians are lost, shouts are going out on TS WTF happened, how did we lose all that ****, there's something funny going on, exploit is called, then a lone voice says, (something I'm sure the avid readers of this forum will have noticed at the beginning) why did they have a Chimera ? Good question, we then start to look at what type of hole we were in (something we should have done first, but meh bloodlust) a Pulsar !!

Yep we took an armour fleet into a Pulsar, then wondered why we lost, props to the guys in Censored corp who didn't panic and did what they had to do, they probably wet themselves laughing at us all night, hell we laughed at ourselves.

I would normally finish off by saying something like, lessons learned, we won't do that again, next time we'll check, but hey, we'll probably see some targets, jump into our ships and do it all over again, why ? Cos we play to have fun, shooting stuff is fun, win or lose, we live in the best part of Eve, wormhole space, we can make isk to replace stuff, so while we failed we laughed about it, and that's what's it about.

The only proper way to go about it :D Ship losses and such are insignificant in the bigger picture as long as you're having fun.

So here is a good fail that i did recently. It really was mistake after mistake after mistake.

So i read about daytripping with an orca and my alt was 2 days from flying one. So i tried it once but found a c1 and it did not fit ofc but ran some sites in an assault frig and salvaged and moved on. Couple days later I try again and find a wandering into a c3. Im excited to try this orca idea again. into the unknown with the cloak scanner and I decided to run sigs and clear sleepers that way and perhaps some ninja mining.

Mistake 1: 2 pos on d-scan. Occupied. I never see a ship on d-scan and decide it is currently empty, for that is what i want to be. And to make things even more dumb, it was Saturday and there was 10000 more people online in eve than for that time on a weekday. Right, its empty for sure (sarcasm)

So I decide to scan anyway and keep going with the plan. Scan 6 or 7 down.

Mistake 2: During my scans i found that including the wh i came in on there were 8 wh's in total in the system. Yes 8. An obvious sign of high traffic through the system. But still like before, I want this sytem to be empty, so I tell myself it is still empty, everyone will leave me alone, for sure.

Then go get the frig and made the mistake of asking my corp if someone wants to mine a wh grav. And I am the only one who has anything to do with w-space, so its up to me to not be so dumb.

Mistake 3: bringing someone who is more of a noob to w-space than me.

Then I start to clear the site and bring the orca and the other guy with his retriever into w-space. Orca cloaks and I wait while I clear the grav. Site is clear i say warp to me. Orca and other guy warp.

Mistake 4: I stopped spamming the d-scan. No need to explain what is wrong with that here.

Run over to orca with assault frig and online salvager and start salvaging with frig.

Mistake 5: did not cloak orca.

Other guy starts mining jaspet of all things, but keep my mouth shut. Salvage complete run over to orca hop in sneaky covetor. It has a cloak on it so if im paying attention actually i should be safer. Now comes some bad luck and bad timing. Right then is when the Loki and Tengu warp in. And im too close to orca so neither of my ships can cloak. Tell other guy to run and both my ships are warp disrupted. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop.

And then I begin to laugh. Looking back right then at all the errors I made I laugh some more. Wow, that was dumb. But there were some silver linings to be had. Retriever pilot got away and between my 2 pods I had 1 cheap scanning implant in it and no others. But the 800 mill killmail ont the orca sucked and the assault frig and cov ops scanner I lost inside it was not fun. Covetor was enough of a loss too, but not real bad. But probably the worst part was that I moved a while ago and I woke up 25 jumps from where I operate now.

Im not even a little bit mad at the Loki and Tengu, for they did exactly what they should have done. It would be nicer if I did not know any better than I do to not make that many mistakes. So, its not even a lesson, for I knew to do those things already. It is just a reminder to perhaps pull my head from my backside once in a while. Hopefully you guys get a few laughs from this. I post it here for I do not know anyone in EVE who wormholes, so they could not understand the full scope of my fail like you guys can.

Ps, Dont worry I will return and I assume you guys can get some more easy kill

and then it hit me......im in a pvp t3 and they got some battlecruisers, a raven and a proteus that doesnt have range. and i got lotsa scorch. so i turn around and warp back straight into the bubble. align back, drag the battlecruisers and raven off the battleship (the proteus had cloaked up god knows where) and start fighting. the raven seems torp fitted so he can't actually hit me, and the drakes just fire some missiles at me. so i start on the raven hoping he is buffer and not active

worryingly, as soon as i hit armor i start dropping massively and fast. hardeners are active, damage control is active, but i drop fast. i try to get a kill before i have to warp off but can't put damage down quick enough. i return home empty handed. i fly to my pos and fit an armor rep to repair my damaged armor.......at which point i see that last night, when i had to burn to a wormhole that was being collapsed i put all my plates offline.....and never turned them on again. i cried :(

oh yea...did exactly the same yet again....this time in a full on fleet battle without plates. same legion. its a survivor!! Lol

I absolutely love this thread. At one point I had thought that I had made just about every mistake you could possibly make in w-space (and eve in general). This feeling was so strong that I actually started a blog with the hopes of allowing others to learn from my many, MANY mistakes. It never really took off, but it is perfect for this crowd. If you too enjoy this thread, take a trip over to my old blog, it's a narrative of my own personal failfest.

If any of you like it, let me know and I'll post some of them here for everyone else to laugh at.

Just seen this post :D we used to live in a pulsar and I always used to hope someone would jump our dreads with a tasty selection of bhaals :D (this was before the XL sig nerf so a single target painter would bloom a BS up to dread gun sig radius).

Quite funny when someone opens to you, forms a fleet up then realises its a pulsar and can't get out again quick enough.

I'm logged in solo when I open our new C1 static. Jump in (flying purifier) to see 2 Drakes and sleeper wrecks on dscan. Only a couple of anomalies in system and turns out that the 2 Drakes are finishing them off (1 at each site). No time to grab a decent combat ship to engage drakes, but they are not salvaging as they go, so I fall back to plan B. I position myself near the one site, ready to jump what I hope will be a Noctis.

Unfortunately, he comes back in a salvaging thrasher. Not much chance to kill him with my Purifier, but nothing ventured, nothing gained. I engage and, as expected, he is able to burn away and escape without taking much damage from my torps. Oh well. Then a corpmate logs on. "Anything happening?" "Not much. Just missed a salvaging thrasher. He might come back though, so I will wait here and see if he.... Tengu on dscan." Sure enough, the guy shows back up in a Tengu to salvage the 8 or 10 wrecks in a C1 site. We quickly form the fleet and kill the salvaging Tengu. Nice fit for a salvager. Shocked

So we picked this sunday to do our first run of capital escalations using Jack Miton's excellent guide to "running C5/6 like a baws". I as the Archon pilot had never done a full escalation before so I was a little excited. I ordered several test warps to safespots so everyone knew what to do in the site. We had a different person for every slot in the fleet so no one was dualboxing, hopefully further reducing the potential for stupid mistakes. Of course we also had someone watching out for new signatures.

Finally I felt reasonably confident and warped into the site. Individually of course, no squad warp. I was just entering warp when people on comms went like OH ****. The second carrier pilot, who had no other job than to trigger the final wave after Archon + Dreads would have triggered and cleared the first three waves, had warped with me ShockedShockedShocked

Now we had two carriers and two escalation spawns in the site and couldn't bring the dreads in because they would have triggered even more sleepers. We also couldn't bring subcaps because they would get blown up. And we couldn't get out because we were scrambled when not in triage anyway. Tbh I was somewhat lost for a few minutes, trying to comprehend how our second carrier had managed to mess up the op in what was basically the only possible way available to him Lol

Eventually we called in a third carrier and tried to clear the sleepers with fighters, but they got so much aggro and did so little damage that it was no use. We decided that we log out and log in only one carrier after next downtime and then clear the site as it was originally planned.

Just at this moment the inevitable happened: Our scout announced "NEW SIGNATURE!" just as I logged out, having about 90 seconds of triage remaining. Moments later we saw Devoter, Moros, Legions, Guardians on d-scan and it was clear what was about to happen. The third carrier had also logged out, but the second one was for reasons still unknown to me reluctant to do so. And then The Red Circle was on him with their Moros + Subcaps. I warped cloaked to the site with this char and watched as they pounced our carrier.

But of course our failcascade was even worse for them than for us. Their Moros spawned the third wave so they had 20 battleships to deal with, and soon their ships started exploding left and right. After several minutes our carrier went down, but shortly after all their subcaps were gone too, with only the Moros clinging still to life. They brought one or two more Guardians in to save the Moros but they almost instantly popped, and finally the Moros also died, with one of our wormhole housemates deviously sneaking on the kill to make it a pvp kill.

After we had gathered our senses we sent a pvp fleet to the hole and tried to catch enemies escaping from the site, but all we got was one pod. There was another fight at the hole but Red Circle brought more caps and made it critical, apparently shaken by their unexpected heavy losses to the sleeper onslaught. [edit: I am told it was us who made it critical when maneuvering at the hole.]

To sum it up: We failed badly at PvE and pulled The Red Circle down with us into the Abyss. Sorry guys :)
