I love how you guys don't permit B or C teams, but then setup the tournament in such a way that you guarantee that exactly that will happen. All anyone has to do is drop their selected B and C team members out of their alliance and into an alt alliance by May 5th. Nothing CCP does or says will be able to prove that those alt alliances are alts. Nothing. You have created a system that forces you to declare something you can't really prove or to ignore it, making the rules pointless. You guys have a gift for setting up stuff so that cheating is inevitable.

I love the Alliance Tournament, can't wait for it to start! BoxeeBox + Large Screen TV = Awesome Experience. : >

I'm also 100% in support of the new rules regarding B/C teams and throwing out matches where one team is trying to throw the result. However, I can also see that being used to troll someone. For example, all you care about is that Alliance A doesn't get to the finals, so during your match, you just self destruct. What will happen there?

Yes, as a result of last year's experiment and the reaction from the players we identified this as a must have. We will be streaming the qualifiers but it will be low key and simple, at this point we're not sure if there will even be commentary (thoughts?).

Streaming it, even without commentary, is awesome!

That said: would it be technically possible to allow 3rd parties like Eve Radio or New Eden Radio to comment (from the comfort of the commentator's own home)? So you'd send the video signal to the commentators, they rebroadcast (either to you or to the internet) with their commentary?

Perhaps if either station would like to do a special show and commentary we could embed their player below our video player and viewers could simply play both from the same page (choosing the audio they wanted to hear if there's more then one station)?

The neater solution of course being a flash player that had multiple audio selection.

This has to be a typo:

"3. All competing pilots must have been members of the alliance for which they are competing for from the date that signups close. For Alliance Tournament 10 this means that pilots must have been a member of their alliance before downtime on May, 05, 2012."

We don't even know how to sign up, and you wrote you would be announcing that next week ?

- Riv

Yes a typo or rather a mistake from multiple drafts, it's now been fixed in the blog and all members of a team must be in their alliance by downtime on May 5th.

Let's see how that works out for teams trying this.

The Inferno expansion will have arrived well before the tournament bringing new modules and changes with it.

How will this stand in relation to the proposed Micro Jump Drive module (assuming it'll make it into Inferno)? Will you allow it?

Any of that is awesome - assuming you can get the video and audio to sync up to a reasonable degree (it doesn't have to be perfect but a 10 second delay is probably too much, for example).

This would be awesome - is this something you will be able to do? When the videos are uploaded to YouTube, is it possible to have multiple audio streams there as well?

I am currently rocking a nerdboner fyi.

These rules change things enough to REALLY shake up team design, which is awesome.
Loving the change to broadcasting prelims.
The B team thing is going to be an enforcement headache, but I'm sure you knew that coming into this.

Would it be possible for teams to contact evetv to get a ruling on whether they would be in violation of the B team rule before they enter? Obviously they would be required to provide all relevant information and the ruling would be subject to change if any new information comes to light.

There's no support for that on YouTube and I doubt we could get the time to work on the flash player to support it, sorry to get your hopes up. We're also looking into our streaming solutions this year so I really cant say anything for certain right now.

Since warping is not allowed within the arena it would be the case that this module would be banned. The tournament referees will make a call on this closer to the time Smile

I'd assume it'd be allowed as it's supposed to be an untargetted jump 100km straight forward with a long activation. Considering the arena is 250km across and you can't really stop moving, it sounds like a very risky and exciting module to gamble on.

Besides the balance issues it would play havoc with the camera clients keeping locks on targets.

I for one, don't care for the rule in general.
i know people moaned and complained about the final match of the last tournament, but face it you know who REALLY won.

I also don't like the rule about throwing a match... one of the best things to watch a team who was about to win say " give us a few bil and we will self destruct." guess we don't see that now either.

anyways, please stream and commentate the prequalifiers. also put them on youtube

Correct me if I am wrong, but I didn't see any rules regarding looting. Is it still allowed?
