Krixtal Icefluxor is one of those special people that go out of their way to be offended by everything.

Using the word "Oriental" to describe a group of people does not make you racist. It might make you ignorant depending on where you were raised. But, as it has been pointed out, this is an accepted term to describe people from the East or "Asian" countries in other parts of the world.

I have been in the military for over 26 years and have visited or been deployed to over 35 countries on every continent (except Antartica) and I can say that no one gets there panties in a wad over a single WORD like us stupid Americans. Only we make looking for issues where there are none a national pastime.

Denying ANYONE freedoms or work or housing due to their heritage DOES make you racist. Believing that you are better than others because of your heritage makes you a racist. Using words with no intent of defining superiority or inferiority does NOT make you a racist.

Ok... carry on with the flame wars.

I think one event that exemplifies us pretty well is when we were blue to both Goonswarm and Pandemic Legion, a TEST bomber wing uncloaked in the middle of a battle between both groups. Everyone pretty much collectively shat themselves trying to figure out who we were there to shoot.

That whole period of "oh god everyone is blue on the ops" was pretty hilarious.

I think most people would prefer their country / heritage of descent. Russians, Indians, Pakistanis, Japanese, Chinese, Thai etc etc etc are all Asians, and the distinctions between each culture are much more nuanced than just saying "ASIAN"

This, plus PC terms don't seem to be a standard for anywhere.

I was having a good laugh with one of my work colleagues about this once (I work in IT in and near London so its a melting pot of culture). He was visiting the US, Vegas I think, and the locals could not get their head around a black guy with a British accent from the UK. They kept calling him African American and he was saying in desperation, and I quote "What the hell! I'm not either i'm f***ing BRITISH!". I also gather from other colleagues that being white and African at the same time causes issues there too.

The biggest racial tension in my office is having to go to the halal Nandos where the food isn't as good...

Most memes don't start on 4chan either. And there are plenty of in-jokes and original content within each reddit community. The nice thing about the site is that the crap sinks very quickly while the good stuff rises to the top - it's the entire point of the karma system.

EU did a census study on them organs to come up with a standard for different condom sizes. I will however not reveal the results as to not embarrass anyone here Cool

Carefull there are non orientals being offended by oriental racism in this thread. Cant say I relate, if orientals want to call each other asians what do I care. Maybe if I went to a British school I would know WTF is going on here, and everywhere apperently.

I am however in favor of racism in the form of jokes, I was raised catholic and I love southparks interpretation of a catholic. Best two episodes are in fact: Do the handicapped go to hell?, and Probably. Hell I even like all the black comedians who's only jokes are about white people.

In the end racism is great in the form of jokes, it brings all races together with laughs.
