I just picked up eve online and my buddy has been playing it for about 2 months, so I and really in the dark about how eve works. I have 3 accounts which I want to make each a different kind of account.

Example:
1) my fighter/ warship/scout .etc
2) My Mining Ship/ Gather .etc
3) My Industrial/ Builder/ Producer/Trader etc.

Now sense me and my friend are both still new to the game what should I shrive for on each of the ships like skill books, paths to chose, Guides and builds that can answer questions about how to do certain operations. What should I try to go for first and what corporations / things to (Look out) for should I know about?

I appreciate any post that can help me out and guides to refer me to thank you.

Check the link in my sig for skill tips.
Do ALL the tutorials and sisters of eve epic arc.
1) Buy 40 frigates and get yourself killed. Try stuff. Ask for tips in local afterward.
Some possible paths afterward increasing in difficultiy:
- Red vs Blue
- Faction Wars
- Lowsec piracy
- 0.0 warfare
- Wormholes
2) If you're serious about mining train for a Hulk and read Halada's Complete Miner's Guide Version 3.0
3) Train for Hauler, then Freighter, then Carrier, then Jump Freighter. Learn all the Trade skills. Industry is such a huge field detailed advice is impossible. Start with learning how to build your own ammo. Research a BPO. Try invention. Take it from there.

These are just a few suggestions. Check this flowchart for more possibilities. There is also the career guide.

EDIT : ZOMG I just realized the flowchart entries are clickable now. That is so awesome ! ShockedBear

First few months ov EvE for a first timer should be all about experimentation anyway. Yeah if u start on a structured program toward being a carrier pilot from day 1 you might get there sooner than the next guy, but you might not find the game so much fun for the year you wait to be able to fly it.

Here are a few EARLY goals that flow int he direction you seem to be headed :

COMBAT :

PVP - Train to be really good at frigates, learn to tackle. You will be glad you did. After frigs then cruisers then BC etc. Don't try to over stretch yourself in PVP, better to fight in a small ship you can fly well than a larger hull you havn't the skills for. Unskilled large vessels in PVP are flying coffins that cost all your money.

PVE - Train for battlecruisers, they are the bread n butter of EvE combat. Run LvL1 missions in a frig or dessy for the same company to raise standings untill you can do LvL2 then run them untill you get standings for LvL3 security missions, google search them in this format --EVE "name of mission" lvl"mission level number 1-5"-- and check out the EvE Survival entry for mission info such as what to tank for and what you will face inside. Once you are doing level 3 missions easily in your BC you can think about training for Battleships for LvL4 or just run the LvL4's in your BC with friends. Income from missions is not substantial untill about lvl3, so if you dont really need the cash imediately it might be better to just run them as quickly as possible to raise standings.

MINING : As above train for a Hulk and read guides. I'm not a miner and never have been so my advice is limited. Remember that large untanked mining vessels are quite vulnerable even in highsec.

TRADE : Train for industrial ships and start exploring the market. Remember that the market window only shows items in the region you are currently in. Find a system near the borders of 3 regions so you can travel between all three regions within a couple of jumps to more quickly scan your local area for bargains and price fluctuations between regions. There are several websites where you can also get info on prices between regions and all kinds of other EvE related info, search EVE DOTLAN for some more info. (I made my first billion shipping antibiotics from NPC trade spawns, buy them cheap 1 jump into lowsec and ship em out. 1 jump is easily done safely with good use of a shuttle scout).
Do train into freighters but leave it untill you can easily afford the ship and however much of your product you need to fill it. No point in affording a 800Million ISK freighter only to fill it 10% and take 5 times as long to get there as an indy.
Learn to check your map in game for statistics such as Ships Destroyed in Last Hour and Jumps in Last Hour, this will increase your survivability.
Don't put all your eggs in one basket. If it takes all your cash to fill your hold, do it in 2 trips half full. Sooner or later you will be destroyed while carrying cargo, it just happens, to everyone.. Don't let this get to you, go back to the drawing board and learn from it. Remember it's just game cash and there's plenty more of it, and while you can plan every tiny detail to the Nth degree sometimes the world craps on you from a great height. This is what makes EvE great so when it happens to you bare that in mind ;D

Wall of text :P Just my oppinions having started the game several times in the past and made plenty of mistakes :D

I'll second everything the first two posters have said. Start small and work your way up. And fine something you want to do and go for it.

Just a few bullet point tips to help you along the way though:
Remember that bigger isn't always better in Eve. A well flown frigate can beat a badly flown BS. Bigger is different, not better.
A mining/gatherer character and an industrial/builder/trader character can often be done on the same char
For mining, a Covetor has about 80-90% the mining ability of a Hulk at about 8% or so of the cost and is much less of a ganking target
There's probably a ton of other tips I could give, but I'm drawing a blank right now, lol.

Extra characters I have found are better for things your main accounts dont train for like a neutral scout or a poss gunner
I have two accounts one with a guy that focus extensively on PVE endeavors(trade, mining, research, production) and this which is clearly all about: "making ships go bang." tm

Splitting two many processes between to many characters on the same account means your going to be doing an awful lot of switching between characters and changing skill ques since they cant all train at once.

Noir. and Noir Academy are recruiting apply at www.noirmercs.com I Noir Academy: 60 days old must be able to fly at least one tech II frigate. I Noir. Recruits: 4:1 k/d ratio and can fly tech II cruisers.
