I noticed that you can use the appearance settings in the overview to add colortags next to characters names in local.

Is there a way to also change the background color of that characters name in local chat? ie. I would like to make my negatives' names have a red background so I can easily spot them in local.

I could have sworn I saw a video of a pvp fight where someone had accomplished what I am now trying to do, but I cannot figure it out for the life of me. (maybe I am just crazy and he had his overview where I normally keep my local haha) Am I crazy? Is it possible?

Dunno if you're crazy but that is not possible. Only the icons can be changed.
I agree that it would make sense and be cool if this was possible.

Nope, can't be done.

The only place you can set a red background for people is on your overview and brackets in space.

Local only has the small boxes with the standings in it.
