I actually spoke to MWEB tech today - aparntly there's all sorts of issues with Telkom at the moment that they are waiting on: huge packet loss etc. so lets wait on helkom to sort out their crap.

Yet Mweb doesn't using Telkom as their backhaul network, they use Neotel.

Problem went away, but is back again this week. Maybe it's to do with the Seacom cable failure?

Same problem.

Uninstalled - downloaded - re-installed EVE. Same problem.

I have been trying to follow the advise in this forum and I am sorry to say, it's all Greek to me. I can't even find that "Chat" folder....

I just want to log and shoot Russians from the comfort of my chair in sunny South Africa.

Oh yes, btw.... When downloading EVE, I had a TON of issues. Turns out WinRAR or whatever, expired on my PC and couldn't "unpack" all the files. Some things I wish I knew BEFORE using 12GB of my precious cap....

Anyways, here I am, paying 3 accounts and not able to play any of them.

I tried a fix that didn't work. Decided not to aggravate myself any further.

Received a mail from MWEB today that said their issues with the Seacom cable continues, but they are back up to international capacity.

I logged on, flew 18 jumps, docked in Jita and went outside for a smoke to celebrate. Came back to a crash and error report....

Also from SA, also MWEB uncapped, same issue. The steps here didn't seem to work for me (my own fault maybe), but I guess I'll just wait and see....

I had the same issue - and still not sure what caused it. Maybe some file opened/closed issue. It hasn't been a cache issue for me. I first backed up my settings folder, then logged in with blank settings. Worked fine. Logged out, moved my old files back (replaced the new ones) - and everything still fine.

I am having similar issue.

I login and then as soon as my character "loading" screen comes (when it almost finishes) my client crashes. When the game crashes there is a very annoying loop of the eve login music repeating every millisecond and the only way to make it go away is to restart my computer.

Those with crashes in _trinity_deploy.dll, can you try the following and see if that prevents the crashes for you:

1. Clear your client side cache once again (either through the option in the "Reset Settings" tab of the game options, or by directly removing it)
2. restart the client, but do not log in, so an empty cache folder gets created.
3. find the new cache folder (see http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/EVE_default_directories) and navigate to the Pictures/Characters/ subfolder.
4. right click the "Chat" folder and select "Properties"
5. Open the "Security" tab of the folder properties and click "Edit". Select your Windows User and check the "Deny" box for "Write". Click "Apply" and confirm the warning message.
6. start the client and see if the crash still happens.

Everyone who did this to prevent the client from crashing can now undo this again (same steps, just uncheck the "Deny" box, or simply clear the clients cache).

The issue that caused the client to crash on broken portraits has been addressed in todays patch and it shouldn't crash anymore when encountering a broken portrait. A broken portrait will simply not be shown anymore and will just appear empty.

Other client crashes that were not due to the chat portraits may still happen, though, and will be looked into asap (see also this dev blog with some new toys that should help us in that regard as well).

Tried all the above, still crashing Cry......

Post patch, logged in, swapped out ships, traveled 12 jumps, docked, and as station interior loaded, crashed. Interior was visible for about 2 seconds at most.... time enough to load neocom and station services panel at most.

Wut?!

Had this very problem develop within the last few hours. Problem is on win 7 64 bit with the trinity.dll. caused eve exe file crashes and crashed my system. Eve attempted multiple times to reinstall the newest patch and kept crashing. Crashed my computer again and caused my antivirus to stop working.

Uninstalled, deleted cache and such logged back in and the same crash within 5 minutes thankfully no computer crash. Have never had anything remotely similar to this happen before.

Edit : problem was on my end, ended up troubleshooting it out and half my ram went bad. Pulled it and everything seems to be working fine.

The advantage of a bad memory is that one can enjoy the same good things for the first time several times.

One will rarely err if extreme actions be ascribed to vanity, ordinary actions to habit, and mean actions to fear.

I have this issue as well, only rather than my client crashing its my whole system. My computer just shuts off.

I have tried all the solutions posted here and have had no success. Changing the chat file did allow me to spend an extra minute on but i still crashed.

I also tried using log server to gather the info to put in a report, however because my computer shuts down i am unable to save and therefore have no information to send.

It has been 3 days now since i have been able to play... if this keeps up i will not be re-newing my subscription

I was having this same problem a few weeks ago - I disabled the station environment in my settings and the problem went away

I have had the environment off for a while now. Great suggestion though.

I am now having this issue while surfing the net, and realized it is not exclusive to EVE. I am starting the troubleshoot process now, hopefully it will be something simple.

OK i found the solution.

It is a conflict between Mumble and ATI Tray tool.

ATI tray tool show our FPS in game
Mumble has the "Overlay "feature

The Overlay + Fps = crash
