Omen Gank Fit

I was wondering if there are any effective gank fits out there for an Omen. I don't want to be bothered with cross training towards other races so I'm stuck with Amarr since I have already devoted time training specifically lasers and Amarrian ships as well as training for better CPU/PG.

I like a good Omen fit that can dish out the most HP for an alpha strike for a Mackinaw and whether or not it's practical to solo gank a Hulk with it. Thank you.

Gallente ships lend themselves better to suicide ganking, even with worse skills.

For the Omen I can suggest this:

[Omen, suicide]
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M

Initiated Harmonic Warp Scrambler I
'Langour' Drive Disruptor I
[Empty Med slot]

Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Reactor Control Unit I

Medium Ancillary Current Router I
Medium Energy Collision Accelerator I
[Empty Rig slot]

564dps, all5's, overheated. Requires just about perfect fitting skills. Add 3 drones and dps implants to taste.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

Considering decently skilled Catalysts push close to 700 dps.

But if you must use the Omen, Conflag.

I just tried it out. Works pretty well, But I needed to modify it a bit.

[Omen, suicide]
Heavy Pulse Laser I, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M <--------------Unable to fit T2 guns. Had to switch to T1.
Heavy Pulse Laser I, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M

Initiated Harmonic Warp Scrambler I
[Empty Med Slot] <---------saw no point in having a web for slow mining boats.
[Empty Med slot]

Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Reactor Control Unit I <----------For some reason, even with engineering and electronics to level V, I didn't have enough PG to use the fifth Laser. Mind you, I'm using T1 guns.
Reactor Control Unit I

Medium Ancillary Current Router I
Medium Energy Collision Accelerator I

Unfortunately, since I was limited to T1 guns, I was only able to attack barges. I'm not sure if this fit is enough to get a Mackinaw. I'm training for T2 guns at the moment.

Thankfully I took the time to train Thermodynamics and I think I could fit a target painter there somewhere if the PG allows it. Other than that, this fit is working well.

Try and equip meta2 or meta3 guns. They're still cheap and offer improved dps over plain T1 guns. Overheating is a must.
If the grid is insufficient, equip a T2 reactor control unit and/or train advanced weapon upgrades.

IMHO, the Catalyst is a better suicide ganker. With just destroyer 1 and T1 guns you can push 500dps. It's much cheaper aswell (8m isk)

[Catalyst, gank]

J5b Phased Prototype Warp Scrambler I
'Langour' Drive Disruptor I

Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II

Small Hybrid Collision Accelerator I
Small Hybrid Burst Aerator I
[Empty Rig slot]

You'll only need 6ammo per gun and the web is the hold them at point blank range.

I only fly Amarr. Anything for a coercer?

Due to the nature of lasers, Amarr ships are not really good at suicide ganking. With pulse lasers, the alpha is poor, and both autocannons and blasters do more "raw DPS". In a real fight, lasers can outclass autocannons and blasters because of the range advantage, but in a gank that does not matter. Beam lasers have poorer DPS with better range, and while they're better than railguns, they do not have the DPS to do really well at ganking, nor do they have the alpha that artillery has.

I would recommend a Coercer with a full rack of Medium Pulse Laser IIs with Conflagration crystals loaded, and 3 Heat Sink IIs in the low slots. That's really as good as it's going to get.

I am no expert on ganking but... what is the logic for fitting tech II mods which will get destroyed (at least some of them) to kill a vessel that will not drop valuable cargo?

Or do you make enough from the strip miners and cpu's to justify this as a profitable endeavour?

Personally I consider non profitable suicide ganks an exercise in futility, if not in stupidity... but then I dunno what this game is like these days in highsecland... perhaps gettign the killmail is considered worthwhile in it's own?

PvPers (good ones) used to do pvp for a livign ... I guess perhaps today this is no longer the case anyway.

T2 guns and mods are to minmax your fit so you can gank miners using fewer ships. This is especially the case since T2 high damage ammo has been buffed to be actually useful.

It's very hard to profit from suicide ganks when using T2 equipment, since the only way to make a significant amount of money is from the T2 salvage of a Hulk's wreck or something. Still, a T2-fit destroyer is, what, 12 mil? Paying 12 mil to contribute to the enormous amount of whining on the part of miners seems pretty cheap, actually.

Plus, then there's those who profit off the ever-rising Hulk prices...

I fly Amarr 99% of the time but have gall frig 3, small hybrid rig 1 and small hybrid 4 to fly a suicide catalyst. Even with these skills I'll outdamage my T2 Coercer.

An extra problem with lasers is that shiny crystals are quite expensive while you only need 6 shots/gun for a catalyst. You can cheapen the fit I posted even more by dropping the damage mods to some named ones.

Omen is a very difficult ship to fit unless you have excellent fitting skills.

Bear in mind it's pegged for a redesign soon.

The "Advanced Weapon Upgrades" skill reduces power grid consumption of turrets and launchers. Need to have "Weapon Upgrades" level 5 first though. Great fitting skill to get before/right after T2 guns as they will use even more power and cpu over T1 and meta level guns.

Duly noted. Thanks.

I decided to train up to the catalyst. Turned out it took me less than a day to train because I already had much of the other skills ready.
