Very interesting and kind of telling, I had a feeling the average age for this game would be around 30ish.

I would point out that we're not sampling the entire game population here. By Krixtal's blatantly incorrect assumptions, the average age would probably be 20.

I have met 2 people younger than me in this game, and I'm 21 so I have a feeling that it is much closer to 30 than 20.

You Sir, are a scholar.

No, I'm a scholar; he's just a guy who presumably has a lot of degrees. Lol At least they are related; it's not like he threw up a PHD in Astrophysical Egineering or something. The thing that gets me, is that he is both a soldier and a Vice President Question Otherwise I might believe it.

The soldier is not that hard to believe if you understand the military system in the US. I'm a reservist - meaning one weekend a month and two weeks a year. I joined the Army at 17, used it to pay for my education (all of it), to give me experience that I could leverage into a civilian career. After active duty I landed a job as a sourcing manager with GE, then parlayed that into another job, so on and so forth. I've stayed in the reserves, because I enjoy it. I'm on my 3rd enlistment in fact. So that is how I am both a soldier and VP. The VP position came in January. It's a junior position, but it's nice to be in the executive band. I could stop getting degrees by now, since the military experience, the veteran status, and my civilian resume mean that I can basically command whatever job I want. But it's free with my reserve benefits, so I see no reason to stop educating myself, especially if I have time (I take online courses in the evening). My final degree will assure me a very technical overview of business and perhaps a boardroom position in 10 to 15 years.

Besides, it's been proven that people will lie about anything given the opportunity, and it doesn't really matter where or why so long as they think it benefits them or serves some particular purpose they see as being more important than the truth.

True, but I think most people here are telling the truth. Because for most, there is no incentive or reason to lie.

Lol ..that's just naive. Smile

Most people who responded are not frequent forum posters, why would they care enough to lie? (Not accusing any frequent posters of lying either)

This is more of a fun thread where you seem to be the only passionate one.

You might be right, but it has been my experience that people on the internet tend to embelish their personal occupations and history at the very least, if not outright lie about it. Some do tell the truth without a doubt, and kudos to them for doing so, whether their real occupation is something special or dull and ordinary like mine.

The reason is simple. People often feel insecurity over their jobs and life and want to make it look better or see what it is like to have people see them as something different. There is always something to gain, and it doesn't have to be anything tangible.

Anyway.. fun thread. Have at it then. Smile

edt: actually, I should apologize as I have been rather negative the past few days and seem to be taking a bit of it out on the forums here.

I have to move by the end of the month because of, "landlord or family member is taking your room/suite" clause eviction, need to buy a car and the one I was looking at that seemed the only good deal around just sold for probably less than I told the seller I was willing to pay.

Also, I have the wonderful luck of my regular job suffering from a **** poor economy resulting in limited employment for months on end which ended up being no work and a offer for work-sharing, (i.e: laid off without compensation or appropriate notice, as well as limited hours to get a decent average on employment insurance which would cut my monthly income in less than half).

I was lucky enough to get on with an Electrician at the same time the other dead-ended, but I'm still limited in hours so far, and haven't got any savings to speak of. Not just that, but stupid government tax program only deducted 65% of required income tax last year so I can't do my taxes without owing the government something like $2K.

Overall, it's actually been a dungheap couple of years that's only recently came to a head so I'm pretty pissy.

..anyway, enjoy your thread and I'll try to stop being so damned negative here and elsewhere.

Cool

In more mundane reality I'm 35 and a philosopher/historian of philosophy. Half of these facts are true.

I also have six hours sub left on this account. This fact is true.

I don't think you were doing it right.

The fact that nobody cares, on the other hand, is pretty much correct.
