Please note, I have not been active in Wormhole Hunting since joining the CFC. However, I will soon be starting again. I do ask that you refrain from constant contacts, inquiring on Wormholes I have for sale. I always list my sales with Taggart / Sell Forums. Please check there first!

What exactly is it that you do?

I'm a private Wormhole Explorer / Seller.

Why would you do this?

My EVE Income is made solely on finding vacant Wormholes, and selling them via Forums / Third Party postings.

How much money can you make?

Money will vary from Sale to Sale. Less desirable Wormholes / Fire sales will affect your average, but stumbling upon a good Wormhole Sale can net you a fair amount of isk.

Is this easy Isk?

No, this is actually very hard to earn isk. The odds of finding an unoccupied Wormhole are slim. The chances of finding one that might be worth selling? Even smaller. Again, I will go over this below.

What skill set is required for such a job?


I started exploring for Wormholes on this character at around the 2 Million Skill point range. However, you can do it much lower marks.

Recommended Starter Skills-

• Cloaking III
• (Racial) Frigate IV
• Astrometrics IV
• Astrometric Pinpointing III
• Astrometric Acquisition III
• Astrometric Rangefinding III

With these basic skills, you can get yourself in a Tech I Frigate with a basic Probe Launcher and a cloak to use while immobile. Getting an Expanded / Faction Probe Launcher is highly recommended.

Look to eventually move yourself up to a Cov Ops Frigate, or if you have the Isk to burn, a Tech III Strategic Cruiser with a Nullifier Subsystem. This way, you can safely elude bubbles on Gates / WH Tunnels, as well as remained cloaked at all times.

The first thing you need to do, is figure out where you want to go hunting for your Wormholes to sell. Theres a few things to keep in mind.

Most Highsec Wormholes are taken. Most of which are also HEAVILY defended, as they experience visitors often.

Lowsec Hunting brings Lowsec Risks. Gate camps, smart bombing ships, all hazards that are present in Lowsec will often haunt your search.

Nullsec Wormholes are hard sales. Most Alliances living in Nulsec that own Wormholes with Nulsec Statics, have found them themselves. You may get an odd hit on a sale, but unless you find yourself a VERY good system, chances are you'll end with more heartbreak than triumph from attempted sales.



[****] Verifying the Wormhole is Empty.

Make sure you Bookmark the exit to the Wormhole. Always do this first. If the Wormhole turns out to be occupied, the quicker you can leave, the better. The only time this should not be done first is if there is a hostile fleet waiting for you at the entrance. In which case, uncloak and exit the Wormhole immediately. You should always be in transfer range of the wormhole upon entering.

Use Directional Scan. This button is invaluable to you. Make sure your Overview is set to show Force Fields AND Sticks. If your overview is set all fancy-like and you don't want to fiddle with it, just have 'Use Active Overview Settings' unchecked.

The easiest way to track down towers in a Wormhole is Combat Scanner Probes. Create a scanning filter that shows only Structures, and I start stick hunting. Once you locate one that is out of Directional Scan range, warp to the planets Customs Office at 100km. Not the planet. Note: If the Customs Office isn't NPC owned, there's always the chance the Wormhole is abandoned. Force Fields are what you are looking for.

If the word Force Field even shows up on your D-Scan, get out. Save yourself the potential hassle of getting caught.

Don't use Local Chat, you silly billy. Ever. Pretend it doesn't exist.

Now, here comes the fun part. Pricing your Wormhole for sale.

What should you factor into pricing?

• Static Probables
• Wormhole Effects
• Number of Planets / Moons
• Planetary Interaction Level
• Class
• Active Signatures

The biggest things that will effect the sale of your Wormhole are Static, Class, and Planetary interaction.

These two sites will tell you everything you need to know in a few punches of the Keyboard.

Keeping in mind what I said earlier. Static High Wormholes are usually in high demand. However, most are very much taken, so they are quite hard to come by. Static Lows can be desired, but most starter Corps / Alliances may not be inclined to work the Logistical Headaches of moving Billions of isk of stuff through Lowsec. Static Nuls are very hard sales. Most will never sell. However, it can happen.

Class 1-3 Wormholes are the most desired. 4-6 are harder Sales. 5-6 specifically being the hardest.

Planetary interaction matters a lot to most Alliances. The more PI goods the Wormhole can produce, the easier the sale can be. Per example:
This Wormhole has poor / average PI, and would be somewhat undesirable to most eyes.
This Wormhole has relatively good PI. Some T4 Items, as well as the ability for the Corp / Alliance to get the items required to produce their own fuel within the Wormhole.

Wormhole Effects will also effect your sales. Pulsar Wormholes are usually the highest desired. Black Hole effects are generally the lowest.

Who buys these things?

Is there a steady market for actually selling them? I can't imagine people just not caring enough to scan.

if i have the choice between searching for an appropriate hole for weeks or just paying a few hundred mil to get one, i just take the latter and let the extra income pay the bill.

interesting read, the other day i came across a totally empty c6 s c5 magnetar that was totally empty, i imagine this would be good for somewon just wanting to cap escalate?

I wouldn't say so. There are so many variables to wormholes, and people are often looking for specific types of wormholes, with certain statics, with certain effects. Finding that C3 Pulsar with a C4/HS static, unoccupied can take a long time even if you scan it yourself.


... Plus the money you make IN the wormhole is more than enough to cover the costs

Good read, was looking for something like that. But how do you actually sell wormhole? Lets say you found empty hole that you want to sell, so next you write ad on forum etc Meanwhile are you just sitting in this wormhole or create alt for that or a lot of alts to be placeholders for all holes you find? And maybe can you give little bit more info which is good and which is bad PI?

1-2 years ago I would also say that selling WHs is a fools trade, but today where most WHs(Higsec Static) are taken, it's a good trade.

How long would it take to find a C1 with HS static? Paying 500+ mill compared to the time investment is pocket money.

not true..just because I don't change my own oil doesn't mean i'm lazy..I have enough money and too little free time to do it myself.. .. some people just have enought money to not want to search for the hole they want, makes finacial sense really.
