High standings vs agent standings

I am not sure I really understand faction vs agent standings.

My standings with both caldari and amarr are above 7.2

Now my agent in lowsec yesterday kept giving me mission that I did not want to take, so I rejected the mission, the standing for the agent never changed below 7.2, even after I rejected 3 times in a row.

So I thought "Oh cool!, I can cycle missions with this agent because my faction standings have a very high floor now, so it can't possibly DIP below my faction standing."

Well I was wrong, after my 5th or 6th rejection the agent finally stopped giving me missions, saying that my standings were too low.

But here is why I am confused, my standing toward the agent is STILL 7.2!!!! I was allowed to run missions with this standing before so how come now I am not allowed??

Is this a bug?

Probably a refresh issue - some standings don't seem to take if you don't log off and back on.

Even if your faction standings are higher than the requirements, you can lock yourself out of a specific agent by getting your personal standing with him below -2.0 (modified).

Precisely as counter-measure to what you tried to do ;)

Train Diplomacy skill. If that skill is already maxed, the only other way to regain access to that agent is fleet up with someone else doing missions for that agent and share mission rewards to gain standing with that specific agent again.

Well OK it's not that bad, I still have multiple lv5 agents which still have good standings I guess the point of this thread was more about game mechanics and how deceitful the standings can be when doing this....

I never tried this before because my faction standings were much lower, so even after 3 years I still learn something new about the game mechanics. I just wish the agent standings actually refreshed correctly, or was I doing something wrong?

Standings automatically updating have been a bit more buggy than usual.
