So after following peoples advices in my thread about exploration i decided to give it a try to see if i was going to like it, so i equipped my caracal (not the best ship for exploration but at least i thought it be minimally fun at least a tiny bit) with what was necessary for exploration and i find that exploration was nearly as boring as mining as i just sat there launching probes and jumping from system to system without finding anything, dont think i did anything wrong as i even followed the EvE tutorial and minimal skills needed for exploration.

So question:

Which profession or activity is similar to mission running but not as likely to get you tired of the pew pew like mission running does.

By the way fleets are fun was invited to one yesterday!!

Can I confirm you found nothing ? No signatures showed up at all? If nothing is showing up in several systems I reckon you may have a problem in your technique or your settings are wrong (which I reckon is the problem).

None activity is similar to missions, closest possible it Incursions and Exploration. First is a bit more skill intensive, 2nd you tried and didn't like

But then again, looks like you expect to jump in a system, probe, find jackpot and make quick cash. This isn't how EVE works and even more this counts for exploration.

Exploration requires a lot of patience, there is a limited amount of explorations sites. All those that spawn in Empire are heavily contested by all the exploration pilots that are after them. So you have to be patience and at one time you will find the motherload, but it will take time

As for a general list of stuff you can do: http://www.swiftandbitter.com/eve/wtd/

Again, keep in mind EVE is about long term goals, about patience and about setting your own goals. Most of the time, quick easy money doesn't really exist, mainly cause if it would exist it would already been farmed by all older players.

There are many many things you can do that make money (missions, mining, exploration, incursions, industry and trading are the most used for it) and also mix them with the less boring things like PvP.

You might be interested in the more advancd combat PvE like wormholing and incursions, since they require or benefit greatly from flying with other players. Anomalies might also be an option, but they aren't really worth much or provide a challence in highsec even for a young solo player. I can't stand constant PvE combat grinding though and it's been sometime since I've flown a new character, so I'm not the best person to give advice on it.

As for exploration in general, the entire nature of exploration is gambling. Every important aspect of it is chance based and there are no guarantees on finding sites or getting anything worth your time from them. It's worth it in the long run as you do more sites the law of averages start to take effect, but even then it's a nomadic life with loads of scanning and traveling involved. If you are looking for a constant combat activity with steady rewards, exploration is not for you. It offers that, but a significant portion of your time goes to hunting down the sites.

As for your problem specifically, that's basicly highsec exploration for you. It's heavily competed over by experienced explorers in pimped out ships. They know all the tricks and can complete every individual site solo within a half a dozen minutes at most and many have a buddy or an alt to speed it up further. Speed is everything there and they have minimized the time they use in scanning and completing the sites. It's a nice income source, but if you're mainly interested in doing sites instead of hunting them down, I'd strongly recommend either going to lowsec/0.0/WH or moving to a less competed region. From personal experience I'd say caldari space in general is the most heavily competed area compared to every other empire faction area. Even the lowsec areas there have a somewaht steady traffic of explorers and pirates.

You probably don't have high enough scanning skills then. Some sites are harder to scan than others, and if your skills aren't that hot there are certain spawns you'll never get down to 100%.

You need better probing skills, or you needed to take more time to find the signatures.

I was trying to grind standings on an alt by running all of the tutorial missions. He had absolute crap for scanning skills so it took him 30 to 40 minutes to finds any signature despite my using proper scan probing techniques.

Yeah you can try to run incursions or WH, but usually you need a BS thats well tanked to do that.
