What good are Minmatar Battle Cruisers?

I don't want to abandon Minmatar because I really like the faction, but a Drake or a Prophecy Battle Cruiser is looking mighty tempting right now, especially since they all share the universal Battle Cruiser skill.


My alt is flying Minmatar and uses the Cane and Maelstrom for level 3 and 4's. The Cane has not worked out as well for soloing the missions, but when he flies with me (Fed Domi, Sentry drones) I can tank it while he flies around and kills everything smaller than BS/BC. I love the speed and the hitting power of the auto cannons.

Now, in his Maelstrom, he can also tank level 4's and pop the heck out of BS/BC, but we both struggle a bit against frigates. That is where our light drones come in.

Neither of us can fly Caldari or Ammar at the moment, but will most likely cross-train to be able to get into the Macharial, Vindicator, Rattlesnake and the Bhaalgorn.

One thing you should learn, in EVE there is no tank role like in most MMOs. Everyone has to tank somewhat (well not counting suicide gankers). The question that you need to answer for yourself is how much tank do you need vs how much gank.

I wish you the best of luck. I would try to help, but I do not have much experience with non Thrasher Matar ships.

amarr caldari get bonuses to resistance, while the gallente and minmater get bonus to their repair /shield boost systems.
