You guys rock, thank you.

On the flip side of things, how about the Myrm? Will I be able to handle the same kind of PvE things the drake can handle in a Myrm?

(I know, don't fly the drake, but its the only thing I can compare it to since everyone has a build for it)

And how about PvP wise? Myrm pretty solid?

Again, thanks for the info.

Edit: I love the Minmatar ships and will eventually skill over to them, I'm just very curious about Gallente, I love the design of most of them, and intend to train up pretty much every race eventually, just curious who I should be working towards as a PvP-oriented nub who still needs to make cash

The Myrm shines in the hands of a pilot who has crosstrained tanking and gun styles. It can be shield fitted (at the expense of less tackle but more mobility) or active armor tanked (its bonuses actually make active tanking it a decent pvp choice when normally that is a bad idea in pvp). Triple rep Myrms are like what you'd get if youit strapped a beehive to Robocop. They need gnarly fitting skills, though.
A rep-Myrm suffers from cap problems, obviously, so it is usually fitted with projectiles.
However, in PVE, this is not much of an issue because the DPS is far lower then most players put out, and you would never need three reps for a mission.

Also, a shield myrm can have a quite respectable tank, almost on par with the drake, provided it is rigged properly.
And its bonuses to drones are sexy in missions.
The main disadvantage is price vs. performance (though only in PVE ). If you prefer drones, you will be pleased with the Dominix for not a lot more.
Myrm =versatile, capable of handling basically any LVL 3, prob level 4s if you are careful, and very versatile in PVP.

I posted some Myrm fits in this thread https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1201671#post1201671

It's a bit more widely usable than Brutix, and provided you can land tackle on the victim, well capable of beating any other BC in a 1vs1. (yeah yeah, these are not every day events, but tells something about it's capabilities). It can also deal with all smaller ships with ease, and tank gate guns.

Passive shield tank might be ok for PVE, but I think it's better to use PVE as an opportunity to practice cap management with armor tank and cap boosters, as well as overheating. In PvP you should go either buffer (boring) or active armor (crazy fun) so you can use the midslots for tackle and surprises.

So when doing PVE, don't read any mission/plex walkthroughs, push your ship to it's limits and you'll be much more confident in PVP. Stuff like controlling range, knowing when to overheat, when to warp out, how to cycle reps and cap injection under neuting should be semi-automatic so you can focus on situational awareness in real combat. D-scan, who enters local, what is your opponent doing and guessing what he/they plan to do is easy to miss if you fumble with your ship controls :D

Training both Gallente and Minmatar is definitely key to awesome winsauce. Best small gang PVP races, which also unlock the Angel faction pirate ships. They do however rely on different tactics, so there is quite a lot to learn, and might be optimal to chase one race first.

I'd be flattered!

Yes, Minnie and Gallente crosstraining is a sexy combo and gives you access to some of the best pirate ships in Eve. Both Serpentis and Angel Cartel ships are some straight up baller ass backdoor bandits. I'm pretty sure, for example, that the Vindicator should be on Concord's equivalent of the Galactic Ship Sex Offender registry, because it tends to Blaster DNA evidence everywhere after it finishes holding you down.

Ok, maybe that was a bit grim. Point is, those two races give you an ass-ton of flexibility, playstyles, and ship concepts to utilize.

Not to derail the thread, but I recently saw a post in response to one of those trainwrecks of grammar people sometimes post. One of the responses was something along the line of "but that post merits at the least a stiff caning". I lol'd.
