... I mean, what is the purpose of this bar, if to Lock the one who is EWARing me I have right clic and browse the menu?

Wouldn't it be just smarter to:

You clic the icon, then 2 things should happen:

1) If you have the target locked, you should select it.

2) If you don't have the target locked, you should lock it.

The intention is nice, but it totally fails the purpose, to select the one that is EWARing us we still must go to the overview.

Because tities .

I think the only purpose was to make it more clear what is being done to you, and it does that nicely.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

The problem comes when you are being affected by two or more targets. Which target should the client lock onto?

The client could lock onto the closest target, but you might not want the closest but you want the Falcon. So this is why you get a little menu.

I see... and what would happen if 4 people were, oh lets say, sensor dampening you. When you click it, it targets all 4? What if the max for your ship is 3 targets, it takes 3 at random?

I agree, it would be really nice if this thing allowed us to target people, but this was covered in the thread that discusses the dev blog on the subject. The short answer was, they wanted to do something like that, but couldn't in the timeframe.

** EDIT **
Aw, someone beat me to the post.

THen what should happen is that instead of 1 single icon for the same thing it should show 3, and when you point each of them it highlights the ship, on both the space and the overview.

The same should be done with mods and targets, sometimes when repping many ships, or salvaging/tracting many wrecks you don't know what module is on what ship, that could be solved by hovering and highliting.

So it should load a single icon for every single thing that is happening to you.

3 Target Painters,
3 ECM Jams
2 Warp Scrambles

So, instead of just 3 icons, you want a total of 8.

Seems about right. *facepalm*

That makes a bad idea (one icon per) better how?
Other mmos dont have 1000 man fleets.

Do I have to explain again? Seriously?

Hover, and highlight who is doing that, clic and lock/select if already locked.

Yeah, Eve rocks, but it doesnt mean that other mmos with sieges and huge battles with 300 dudes don't show you every buff/debuff that is affecting you, when it happens, buffs just reduce their size, and if you hover on them it prompts the name of who is doing that and its classcoloured.

And if huge fleets are a problem you could limit the number through menu, besides, on a 1000 man fleet, if somebody is focused like hell, the most probable outcome is that that dude is gonna be popped.

Do people really needs to be 145 iq to realise of how simple and effective this could be ?

Seriously guys, you like so much to be pimps and use the fancy words that the next thing you'll do is ask me for my password for spellchecking my posts xD

I like it, it's smooth. But I think the information on time / quantity needs to be better displayed, I would suggest on the icons themselves...

Also, if we could get one for other remote effects such as friendly sensor boosting, and better yet, remote repairs, then that would be awesome.

Edit: I originally thought about the rings too, but then decided I like having the time remaining shown, although not to a completely nonsensical number of decimal figures. 1 will be fine, and the best way of ensuring that text is clear to read is to put it on a background, might as well be a bar.

But CCP said that due to their time availability, they would not be able to add timers or counters in this iteration.

I have played many other MMO's.

The problem with this is that in other MMO's, there is replacement mechanics. For example, if X casts X2 on Y and Z casts X3 on Y then X2 will be replaced by X3.

That's not the case in EvE. 7 different target painters on 1 target, there is no replacement.

That would equal 7 different icons.

God forbid an 80 man drake fleet hits your super up with 80 target painters not to mention the multiple scrams and webs. You probably would not be able to see your screen any longer.

I guess if you don't like it, ignore it? Think that fixes your problem.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

So the same time spent hovering and hunting over miniature icons can just as well spent using a right click. Thats not a strong case for it.

Then like the guy above you said, it should give some kind of stack number, and when you hover on it, it might prompt a window with names, and when hoevring on those names, their ship might highlight, and also highlight in the overview...

I mean, theres a fancy yet useful solution for this, what im saying is not stupid at all.

I'm so suprised of you guys trolling in this matter.

Dude, you did not understand my point at all xD

Now I'm not talking about right clic, I'm talking about clic the icon and lock/select if already locked... in huge fleet engagements where overview is full of reds and you have to scroll down or up or whatever to find "that dude", what I'm saying would be so helpfull, but you are stuborn like a goat and obviosuly are ofuscated to say no when I say yes before stopping one second to think about what I'm talking about, you've got my argument on this on the line above this paragraph :)
