Nothing anyone has suggested works for me I can go around the launcher I can see the launcher patching I even tried the alternative patching method from https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=92005&find=unread nothing works the launcher still runs the old build. I am really confused as to why this launcher is still here I have had this game for over 2 years never any issues with patching. Now I can't play the game, now I am not a computer savvy guy I just want to click buttons and have things work like they used too. And clearly I am not the only one having issues just think of how many more are out there that can't be bothered to post on forums or create a petition. I think its clear the launcher doesn't work not for everyone. So get rid of it and go back to what works till you can fix your launcher. Putting your customers through this crap is..... whats the words I am looking for.... Unsustainable business model comes to mind. We pay CCP to give us a finished product, not to help them develop new ways to patch EVE. The first clue that your launcher doesn't work is the fact that you an alternate patch method site in the first place.

Downloaded the newest update as normal and got the following error :

Can't write D:\EVE\launcher\avcodec-53.dll

Congratulations CCP great job =D

At least you can still boot your computer and load your OS. As far as patch day bugs this one is miniscule for CCP :)

ahh this old chestnut

you know CCP was the 3rd major game company to delete boot.ini in the last 10 years
it's not as hard to do as you think and all games run the same risk at patch time of someone forgetting to turn it off before pushing out the update
