The skill you wish you had never trained

Come on you know you have that one skill or skill set that you think "why did I ever train this?"

Personally I wish I had completely stayed away from everything in the industry tree and Mining Barge/exhumer. I thought I'd train up for a Hulk so I could make loads of ISK. I had completely forgotten about incursions for some strange reason and so I did it.

Worst waste of time ever.

Palf of me wishes you could get one free skill allocation once per account but meh. I can see how that would mess up balance, and those training mistakes don't mean nearly as much if you can just undo all the time you spent and put it into something else

EDIT: Could I get this moved to Skill Discussions? I thought I was posting in that section but apparently not

All the skills I've considered "wasted SP" have found use later.

For example I have no ******* clue what made me train Corp Management III during my first month (!!?). Que forward 14 months, and I realised I had the skills needed to found Shiva Furnace when we had to do it quickly.

Same with mining skills, I never used them after the few trial weeks, but in my past alliance I quite enjoyed participating in mining ops- in my Vexor Cool

I consider all my skills to be part of the character Roime, making him what he is.

it would be cool if you could trade in unwanted skills for unallocated skill points. I'm not saying like for like because that would be stupid and give people too much advantage in certain situations. Maybe something could be done where you get say 50% or 1\3 of the skill points traded in, back as unallocated skill points. That way you could put them to good use and people could not just suddenly train say hac from 0-lvl 5 in an instant but could get themselves on the way.

50k SP in PI skills is the biggest of my regrets so far, so I guess I should count myself lucky.

I have asked myself several time "why, oh why, did I ever start training for capitals?" but at the end of the day the SP investment was worth it for me.

No such thing. Every skill has a use for some odd reason... it might be not now but you will find a need for it later.

I had science lvl 5.. dunno why. Was very happy to discover I needed that for my HIC.

No, not really. As I was trying things for the first time I diverged into areas I didn't end up fleshing out; but those skills are still available to me should I want to try that later on. I've got a couple of more focused characters now that I have a bit of a better grasp of things.

For a long time I regretted investing skill points in Mining Foreman & Mining Director. They came from my early days, when I aspired to be a big shot miner. Needless to say, as I knew more about EvE, my focus changed, but those skills kept taunting me, reminding me how clueless I once was.

Then along came the Orca, and those skills made sure I was ready to fly it only mere days after they came out. So in my opinion, no skilltraining is ever wasted, as those useless skills of today, may be tomorrows much needed skill!

I've made more money from mining in the last few days than I have ever made from mission running in the same time. Mining's not that bad!

Incursions are great if you have the right ship and can meet the right fleet.

As for skills, every now and then I wish I hadn't trained missiles. Then I fly a CNR or tengu into missions and my missiles never hit the targets because my friends in Nightmares blow stuff up faster. Oh hang on, I was supposed to be looking for the positives? In Inferno, missiles will look really awesome =)
