MMOs are subscription based. When they take the server down, you are no longer paying a subscription. Why do you think you should be entitled to get for free what you were paying for?

They aren't expecting you to get it for free. You already paid good money for the game (in most cases).

It's a question if the government can step in and force the software owner to provide a compulsory license - similar to the compulsory mechanical licenses provided for performing copyrighted music.

I disagree that traffic won't increase. I've played with a lot of noobs and chat with them on a daily basis and the most cited deterrent for them avoiding lowsec are the gate camps. They believe, either because of what they've been told or what they've fallen victim themselves, that the prevalence of gate camps in lowsec means that solo travel is essentially nullified or becomes very limited in where and how you can travel.

I do agree that Ineffectual sentry guns and their poor design is the issue, however I believe the design is outdated as well rather than just straight up poor. I don't believe sentry guns were designed with the intent of ships being able to permanently tank them. Battleship level EHP obsoletes sentry guns when used by pirates who park on gates and roll their face across their keyboard anytime they see a gate flash. A mechanic as suggested that would force people to consider sentry gun damage into their strategy or force them off-grid on occasion is good, solid design.

If you stop making it so easy for pirates to farm every noob who dares leave highsec I have no doubt that lowsec traffic will increase.

see I might agree it's just most lowsec isn't camped. If most lowsec entrances were camped then hell yes sentries would need a fix but from what I've seen nearly every lowsec gate is empty. hell a bunch of 0.0 entry gates are empty too. the other weekend I jumped into m-oee8 and p3en-e and neither was camped. oh and did I mention I went through a whole bunch of lowsec to get there?

where are you talking to these noobs anyways? can you tell them to get their heads out of their asses and press f10?

TO be honest, the low-sec/0.0 border systems have ALWAYS been barren compared to the 0.0/high sec border systems. hence "Get the pod, get the pod!"

Well, hopefully this change will bring in enough people to low sec to make it lively again.

    simple solution.. buff lowsec income.

    in order of risk (least->most)

highsec, sov nullsec, npc nullsec, lowsec.

We've had enough mudflation in EVE, thanks to the introduction of incursions and migrating drones from alloys to bounties. It makes more sense to nerf high sec income than buff low/null sec income. The problem is that people oppose a nerf more than they oppose a buff, so it will probably never happen.

  • what does people think of being able to reuse wasted SP in EVE Communication Center

If by “reuse” you mean “delete”, then maybe. That should solve people's OCD over having “wasted” SP in skills they don't like, but it would also be abused letting people have far cheaper clones for the ships they fly since they can get rid of all those pesky prereqs…

If by “reuse” you mean “redistribute”, then hell no.

You already can "delete" sps. You can even "delete" other people's sps if they aren't careful enough Twisted

Tried doing the solo thing, and it just isn't working out. Looking for a group of folks to mine with and chat with. I don't mind having to join fleets to defend systems, so long as I'm not expected to skip work/school.

I only have 1.8 million sps and have just barely trained into (and built) a retriever. I'm not exactly a new player - more of a returning player trying to do something different this time around.

I'm trying to work my way up into a self-sufficient industrialist, able to produce T1 ships and modules in an isolated area - even when cut off from Empire. I can only build a couple of frigates for right now, but I hope to slowly build myself up over the coming months.

It does depend on the size of the blob.

The coordinated F1-ing of 1400mm artillery can be very pronounced in their effects on a ship's structural integrity.

There are higher hp alternatives to command ships once fleet sizes have attained critical mass. People don't like risking ships, though.

Also, don't sit still at the enemy's optimal range.

No we are pointing out that exhumers could already tank and that the changes mean thet they can now tank most attempts while having a max yeild fit. Which is wrong.

and it's not wrong that a 3m ship can take down a 250m ship in a matter of seconds? i have no issue with a 3m ship taking down a 250m ship, i just have an issue with it happening in seconds.

The same 3 mil ship will take down any heavy assault ship and recon in the same time if they dont tank their ships.

Your comparison is flawed, the Hulk only has 35 power grid, 4 mid slots and 2 low slots. Hulks have tanks more comparable to frigates than cruisers. Frigates that fly at less than 100m/s and are the size of a battleship.

AFK money-making machines need some downsides. Unfortunately, now we'll have fleets of supertanked Hulks mining 23/7 and individual (newbie) mining profits will go into the toilet. This is a huge buff for botters and afk "players."

When it comes to mining, a buff is a stealth nerf and a nerf is a stealth buff.

A properly programmed bot will NEVER be popped by suicide gankers. Bots never get distracted. They never stop checking local, they never forget to hit the dscan button, they never forget who has attacked them before and they never make mistakes. And now thanks to Hulkageddon, high sec ores are now worth more than any of the other ores, save for Arkanor and Mercoxit.

The only thing truly keeping the tide of bots at bay is CCP Sreegs and his team.

Shouldn't that be... Prevents you from being able to...?

You can open an inventory in a new window by holding shift when you open the inventory. You can do this either by holding shift while you click "open cargo" or even by holding shift while clicking on the entry in the unified inventory system.
