  • 🚀 Largest Single Loss in Eve History - $6,000.00 US 🚀 in EVE Communication Center

    No money was actually lost.
Not even in-game fake money. No ISK is lost when a ship explodes. The person who sold the ship has the ISK.

The only thing lost was an in-game asset which could have been exchanged for ISK, but not for $.

Regarding high CPU usage we found one problem with minimized clients: The fps of the client is increasing massively, which causes increased CPU usage. We are investigating further why this is happening now and if this also contributes to high CPU usage in other cases.

As long as you are looking at CPU and FPS issues, any words of wisdom on why when I am in Sirppala, at the Anttiri gate my FPS is fine, but at the Urlen gate my FPS is 4?

    Good one ..

Yes, you can gift 30 days of Omega time.

  • 119.5 - Feedback & Issues (Mac) in EVE Technology and Research Center

I still have an odd low fps bug. I get low fps in some solar systems, but not others. For example, in Urlen, my fps is fine. But as soon as I jump into Sirppala, my fps drops to 4. Urlen has 40 players in it, Sirppala; 15.

This happens in other systems too, and its always the same systems. Sometimes it there everywhere in a solar system (example: Jita). Sometimes its localized. For example in Sirppala, the Urlen gate is bad, but at the Anttiri gate, its fine. But after jumping into Anttiri, my fps again drops to 4. In Anttiri, it stays low everywhere.

This is not intermittent in time, Its always the same locations in the same solar systems.

Graphics turned about as far down as I can get them, "download everything" is on.

  • Character name to easy to primary - any NON-SARCASTIC suggestions? in EVE Communication Center

If you really want a different name, start another pilot and start training. Also, transfer skill points from the old one to the new one via extractors as funds permit. You could even just sell every third full skill injector to fund the operation.

Will that set you back in terms of total SP? Sure, but its not a race. Its a game, and fun can be had at any skill level.

  • Monthly Economic Report - April 2017 in EVE Information Center

    Thanks!

It occurred to me that there is one other data element it would be nice to see: Active asset delta.

There was a recent thread titled "not enough is being destroyed" or similar. In it, one poster pointed out that there is another sink for ships and stuff: People who stop playing. That represents manufactured items that are effectively removed from the game. As new players join, they create demand for items. Thus, there is continuing demand for items even if there was no destruction.

But how much? Is it in any way comparable to the demand created via destruction? What we need is data! We need the "active asset value delta". It would be comparable to the active ISK delta used for the money supply plot. That data would help fill out the sources and sinks in EVE's total assets.

  • Possible Pyfa bug or maybe a changed game mechanic I am ignorant of in EVE Communication Center

I just tested PYFA. Skills at zero, Kestrel grid is 45. Skills at V, grid is 56.25.

    Works for me.

  • Wine version update to 2.6 in EVE Technology and Research Center

I have 8 gb ram and an SSD. But, otherwise, I have an odd situation. This computer is free, given to me my work. They allow game playing on it as long as it does not interfere with work. But, the security software work IT puts on it is not available for any OS past 10.10. So, I'm stuck.

  • Wine version update to 2.6 in EVE Technology and Research Center

    I did a little testing.
The versions under "winehq-master" would not run for me. I tried both 2.6 versions. I would click on an account, and a few seconds later get a red box stating "client unexpectedly closed".
The 2.6 version under "ccp-master" did work, but I still have the low fps bug. In Jita and Sobaseki my fps is 2. But in Isanamo and Idoken its 25 to 30 (which is my usual maximum).

OS10.10.5, 2010, MacBook Pro, 17" screen (which is why I'm still using an old machine).

  • Super Battleships ? in EVE Communication Center

Frigs are Tech I. Their bigger brothers, Destroyers, are also T1. Both use the sale size weapons.
Cruisers are T1, as are their big brother, battle cruisers. Both use the same size weapons.

Battleships are T1. Marauders are not. Conclusion: Marauders are not the big brothers of battleships.

Dreadnoughts do not use the same size weapons as battleships. Conclusion: Dreadnoughts are not the big brother of battleships.

A proper big brother of the battle ship would use the same size weapons as a battleship and be T1.

  • Not enough stuff is being destroyed in EVE Communication Center

Lets consider two groups of players.
The first group gets a big rush from winning. They get a big rush just from the experience, even if they lose. For this group, losing a ship is not a big deal.
The second group gets a gentle feeling of accomplishment from winning. But losing can be devastating, and is not something they want to experience when playing a game for fun.

For both groups, these feelings are gut reactions to events, not something that one really has any control over. What each group does have control over is what they do in game. Group two players do activities that minimize the chance of a loss.

There is nothing you can do to encourage group two to risk ships. Its not why they play the game. Most of these players are also those who do mining, industry and PVE.

So, we should concentrate on group one players, those that have little issue with losing ships. But they will not do so without reason. We need to give that group reasons.

What would be the changes? I'm not sure. But think of things that give reasons for those who don't mind losing ships to go do so. Don't try and get the risk adverse to risk ships, they just will not do so.

I would look at your launcher settings (go to the launcher menu in the upper right and choose "Settings") and see if "download everything" is checked. If it's not, check it, wait for the download to complete, and see if that helps.

If that's not the issue, please press F12 amd choose Report Bug to submit an in-game bug report, preferably when this is happening. You can press ctrl-F to get the frame rate monitor up and submit a screenshot of that with your bug report.

"Download everything" and waiting for it to complete did not help the issue. Bug report 116682 sent.

  • Trilambda Feature Feedback - Suns, Hangars and Logos! in EVE Technology and Research Center

I looked at the suns and was rather horrified at how bad they looked. They have obvious lines of longitude and latitude, and a repeating pattern of crosshatching.

Then I turned up my graphics settings, and as I did so, the crosshatching became less, and eventually disappeared. (I normally run as low settings as I can, as I am using a 7 year old laptop, and sometimes run 3 clients on it.) But on low shader, low texture, they look terrible. Even on low shader, high texture, the crosshatching is visible. To see this the best, go to a system with a red dwarf sun.

BTW, even on the lowest graphics settings, my FPS will sometimes drop to 2.0. It happens quite often in Jita.

what´s the point with this "2M Skill points will be awarded on Singularity for this mass test"

Why not give people something they could use in Tranquility?

Because the test server is a test server. It's for testing things. On a server. If you test testing on the test server you are rewarded to test other stuff on the test server as well.

That said, there is a way to do it.

You would go to a special event agent on TQ and get a mission: "Go into the DED test environment and participate in a scheduled test of new capsuleer software systems". After you do so, you get a token on TQ that you can turn in to your agent for a reward. The magnitude of the reward would be about the same as you would get for a simple mission with an expected completion time of one hour.

Result: Yes, Sisi activity has an effect on TQ. But its no more of an effect then if the same player just did a regular mission on TQ.

  • Am I playing the wrong game? in EVE Communication Center

Here's what I think is going on:

Different people have different reactions to adrenaline. For some people a shot of adrenaline leaves them feeling good. They get "The Rush". For some, it's neither here nor there. For some, adrenaline leaves them feeling absolutely terrible. For days.

People play a game for fun and/or enjoyment. Something that ruins the experience for them, something that leaves them feeling terrible for days, is something to complain about. Even if it only happens a couple of times a year. The result is even though the chances of being ganked in high sec, or even being attacked in non-high are low, for some players the consequences to how they feel is very very high.

I talked to Dr Dew Pinsky about this, and he said that our response to adrenaline is genetic. We are born with it.

You may ask: Why would not such persons play a different game? Well, what Sci Fi space flight single shard MMORPG with a player driven economy would you suggest? It turns out Eve is a totally unique game, there are no substitutes. Thus, the best course of action is to work to change it.

No. I don't drink. Personal preference of enjoying a brain that works.
