Then in our August release we will remove the bonuses from Reprocessing Arrays, Assembly Arrays, and Starbase Labs.

These structures will continue to operate for some time longer and any jobs started before the August patch will complete with the bonuses intact.

Wild guess: you are comparing to pre-Aegis prices, when Strontium Clathrates were 10% of their current price.

It is used for accessing dead sites like EvElopedia.

  • New Recruit thinking of comeback - is this game for me? in EVE Communication Center

    Hey!

Basically, I started the game about half-a-year ago and played it for a month or two. I liked the complexity and the presentation of the game, but I had no time and RL took over.

Now I have some free time on my hands and I am thinking that I might spend it on EVE. The thing is - I am rather quiet type and I have a hard time making friends online. I am not complaining about it, but I kinda see it hindering my game experience. Is the regular chit-chat necessary to actually do something in this game, or joining a corporation doesn't incline the small talk. Is the game still enjoyable without having in game friends? :D

And also, is it worth playing if I can devote only couple of hours every week. I mean, wont I have extremely slow progress trough out the game - with resources, ISK and such?

    Thanks!

I'm mostly a solo industrialist (started Feb 2009), but I like having the ability to do everything whenever I'm in the mood to do it.

I earn roughly 30-50 million ISK per day doing PI in nulsec with one character. It takes me roughly 10 minutes per evening to pick-up, and maybe 15 minutes every two days to restart extraction.

Running a NPC site like a Haven takes roughly 20 minutes or so in my lame little cruiser (Gila, a medium-drone boat). There are faster ships to clear the sites, even carriers, but I'm happy doing it slow. A site is worth roughly 30 million ISK. If you get a 10/10 escalation, you can sell the bookmark to the acceleration gate for 130m.

On the weekend, I was mining with a Mackinaw in a small corp fleet of 6 Rorquals, so I had max boosts. I harvested over 100 million ISK of ore, and I was purposely mining the "garbage" asteroids when I could (small asteroids, so annoying for Rorquals).

My corp is mostly in EU timezone, but I am not. Still, it works for me.

  • Returning player- in a quandry in EVE Communication Center

I'm in the process of moving all my characters to nulsec.

I deeply regret not having done so years ago. [I did spend my first 3 years of EvE in w-space.]

If you are interested in a great corp, I can recommend: Yamagata Syndicate [-YS-], a member of Circle-Of-Two [CO2] alliance, based in Impass (capital: 68FT-6, though -YS- mainly live in 4-MPSJ and TWJ-AW). Though they are mostly EU timezone, and I'm not.

Example: Last evening, I logged-in, did some PI, then mined a bit. A home-defence T1 Rupture fleet was broadcast for an incoming Goon fleet, so I clone-jumped to the staging system and got into a T1 Scythe for shield repping (I like logis). The Goons put up a great fight, but ended-up having to withdraw, and they seemingly made the mistake(?) of heading deeper into our territory rather than out of it.

I consider myself to be an industrialist, not a PvPer. I'm having a great time Big smile

  • Got tackled in 0.5 and my drones were no help, why? in EVE Communication Center

But adding the second tank does not reduce the first by any means right?

As far as i understood you normally don't go dual tank because you're way less effective (damage, propulsion, utility) sacrificing both mid and low slots for defense modules?!

Fitting a hisec hauler dual tank to survive ganking for 20 secs sounds legit to me..

It is virtually impossible to fit a T1 Industrial that can survive the average solo Destroyer gank.

However, it is very easy to fit a T2 Deep Space Transport (DST) to resist the same attack. With some clever fitting, one can also fit a DST to resist a solo Battlecruiser (BC) gank. However, for a fleet of Destroyers or BC, you can still be alpha'd ... though that is unlikely to happen on a gate because of gate-guns. DST can be fitted to be bump resistant, with a MWD, MMJD, and a cloak. Unless you are incredibly unlucky, or extremely incompetent. it is very difficult to lose a DST in hisec.

Dual and even triple-tanking are legitimate niche fitting strategies, but should be avoided by those that honestly don't completely understand what they are doing when it comes to fitting.

Example: I have a double-tanked Maller that I use instead of an AFK shuttle in hisec, because shuttles are too easy to alpha, and I have implants worth over 1 billion ISK; I learned this lesson the hard way. My Maller is primarily very heavily armor tanked (2x 1600mm plates and 1x 800mm plate), as the Maller has a bonus to armor resistances, but I also have some shield tank added, because I frankly had no reason to fit anything else in the mid-slots.

  • Bug with submitting ME job in POS in EVE Gameplay Center

    1. Check that you are really doing a ME job. Click another button, then click the ME button again.

    2. Make sure the BPO is located in the hangar of the station, and not the cargohold of a ship.

R&D agents are utterly useless, save your time, don't bother.

I disagree, they provide Datacores for invention and after getting set up they require very little time to engage.

Datacores from agents were useful income when they were free, and when there was no other source.

Now the 10,000 ISK cost, and being more easily obtainable from faction warfare, has negated much of the value of R & D agents.

With max skill and standing with 5 different corps, you can earn roughly 100,000 ISK per day per agent. That's about 15m per month, not including the annoyance and time in actually picking-up the datacores, and the costs involved in selling them.

I earn roughly 50m per day doing PI on one character with level 4 skills. I've not picked-up my datacores in several years.

  • Raitaru setup in EVE Gameplay Center

I recommend going to the test server, buying an Upwell structure (everything is 100 ISK there), and trying stuff out.

To earn ISK on the test server: buy the largest ship you can afford (100 ISK), platinum insure it, undock, self-destruct. Repeat until you are a trillionaire.

So, is it possible to equip a Standup M-Set HS Materials Reclamation 1 rig and another rig for manufacturing?

    Yes.

You can fit any 3 rigs the structure has the calibration points for. [T2 rigs are very expensive, and rarely used, especially on anything other than the smallest structures, the Astrahus and Raitaru.]

You can also fit rigs and modules that the Upwell structure doesn't get any additional bonuses for. Example: a clone service on a Raitaru.

  • Orca with Mining Bursts and Agression in EVE Gameplay Center

One of the main ideas behind the current boosting system was to reduce server load.

A one-way boost relationship is far more gentle on the servers.

Imagine a large fleet fight in nulsec, and having to manage flags from boosting that are totally meaningless.

How many players there are like you who are operate in HS? Roll

I consider myself to be a small-time industrialist. I only have 5 industry characters, of which only 2 are fully trained (all skills at level 5 in Science and Production).

My friend with at least 22 accounts of industry characters, is at least nice enough to warn me when he is about to do a batch submission. He can raise the index significantly within an hour. While he's submitting the jobs, he tells me it is quite annoying that he constantly gets the notice that the job cannot be submitted because the index has changed. i.e. he's changing the index that rapidly.

I've not been working my 5 industry chars hard in a while (most have slots idle), yet I'm currently keeping a lowsec system around 2.4 with just small "keep busy" jobs.

We've just shutdown all our hisec manufacturing (6 Raitaru) and the 7th research Raitaru will be taken offline next month. I noticed with a laugh that the manufacturing index in the hisec system has dropped to 0.08 and it is probably the first time I've seen an index that low. The system is far enough from Jita that most of our friends have declined our invitations to use the facilities, and we stopped using Red Frog; when we were only 4 jumps from Jita, Red Frog was much more practical.

My original point being that public EC tend to have a high index if they are located anywhere desirable.
