  • EVE Online: Retribution 1.1 Feedback in EVE Information Center

Salvage Drones continue to be completely - and rather embarrasingly - worthless.

They will not "auto-salvage" fleet/corp/abandoned wrecks. I can't for the life of me understand why you'd do this. No competent PVE'er is going to replace combat drones with salvage drones in their default loadouts, and if they're diligent enough to dock up and return with a salvage ship, they're most likely diligent enough to have an alt account for salvaging anyways.

Yes of course there are a few players out there who don't use two accounts, and to them I say "You're the 1% that didn't get your way on Wall-Street, either..."

I understand through some petitiions I filed last year that the drone AI literally has "ghosts" in it's machine, but if these salvage drones are ONLY going to auto-salvage wrecks belonging to the active pilot, then they're useless and you might as well get rid of them.

  • SUGGESTION/REQUEST - Corporation "Naming & Shaming" in EVE Technology and Research Center

    For the Devs:

In the most recent "Team SuperFriends" Dev Blog, they mentioned adding corporation "Naming & Shaming" in regards to corporation wars - who declared war, who surrended, made mutual, etc - and emailing that information to the corp (or at least CEO.) I think this is a very good idea, but I think it needs expanded beyond wars.

I think CEO's should be notified when things like offices are rented and by whom, and possibly even when money is transferred from the corp wallet and by whom.

As Corp CEO's (my alt is one) we get very little information as to what is happening in our corporation, and things can easily get away from us. As an example, a corp office was rented at a very busy station and I didn't even know about it until a few days later when the pilot realized they had done so by accident, and contacted me to have it "unrented."

Please consider this idea for inclusion in the game. Since it can be done with wars, I can't imagine it would be difficult to include office rentals.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

  • EVE Online: Retribution 1.0 Issues in EVE Information Center

Through 40+ pages of threads there have been several complaints on the fact that the salvage drones are effectively worthless because they only salvage one wreck, and that the "engage" hotkey does not work.

    Yet, zero responses from dev's.

What's the point of an "issues" thread if the issues aren't being read, recognized and responded to?

*dink dink dink* Wake up, guys.

Yeah, not a problem here. All my menus and targeting is on the right monitor, everything else on the left is on a 32" display. The split occurs right on the left edge of my inventory and drone management boxes. Agent Missions appear under the system label in the far top left corner, and any route I have up gets moved down. As you can see, all my targets are lined up neatly on the far right running right to left from the "Selected Item" box. That's only 8 targets, but as you can see, it will fit at least two more on the same monitor quite easily and impede on nothing.

Ah - well that makes sense... My two screens are running two separate accounts - ratting on one, salvaging on the other. I suspect it's safe to say that your setup is not common. :)

I'm quite proud of it, actually, and I don't bother with an alt. There's enough multitasking going on running one character for me P

I will say that the fact that a player such as yourself is compelled to use TWO screens for ONE character/account DOES somewhat support the opinion that maybe the UI is - in fact - a bit too cluttered, and that making existing UI icons bigger and more intrusive doesn't help matters. Can we agree on that at least?

Gotta add to my previous comment...

The targeting icons at the top of the screen (default location) are ridiculously oversized, and I just realized that now the active modules (drones, missiles, ewar) are shown below the target, taking up even more space in an already-overcluttered UI.

I appreciate that you're trying to do something new, but the old "square" system wasn't broken. These new targeting spheres are so large that they're clipping with the "Agent Missions" text on the left side of the screen which can't even be moved - and that's BEFORE adding active module icons beneath them.

Did you guys never notice that? Surely you devs can fly SOMETHING with a max-targets of 10...

    I guess we'll await Retribution 1.1...

I'm not having this problem at all, but I'm playing on two very large monitors....

    Erm, so am I...

Target 10 things and see what happens on the far left of the screen... I get the "minimize" icon for the Agent Missions text overlapping with my 8th or 9th target.

    Holy Patch Notes, Batman!!!

So far enjoying most of the new update, with the exception of the new targeting UI. The spherical area-of-influence around your targets is WAY too large. When running large missions or anamoly sites, all of these reds and circles and in-range "tick" marks, and such - it's far more confusing than it was. Also the scrolling combat log is an interesting idea, but it's still completely useless.

The simple fact of the matter is that I need to know I'm hitting things, and I can tell that by the increasing damage indicators on my targets. Other than that, I need to know what EWAR effects are active against me, and you guys have already addressed that pretty well.

I say shrink the targeted/firing-on-you/in-range-of-you "sphere" around each target by at LEAST 25% and give us the option to get rid of the combat log as now it's just a distraction.

The combat log can be removed, its under notifications and logs.

I can't find "Notifications and Logs" - is that in the escape menu?

EDIT - nevermind - found it. Thanks!

I'm at work, so NONE of these are options.... And being that it's a slow day, I really need a click-tastic game, I dunno, like EVE, to make it look like I'm busy...

That being said, CCP has done very well lately with not delaying their outages as much as when I started playing, so I'm a bit surprised to see two delays like this...

WHAT HAPPENS IF WE'RE RATTING/MISSIONING AND OUR "SOCKET" GETS CLOSED? Happens all the time - but being stuck under heavy gunfire for 15 minutes will make for some pretty irritated players who log back in to their pods...

IF A SHOOTS B AND I AID B BY SHOOTING A (non-fleet/corp; just a good citizen passing by), DOES D-Z GET TO SHOOT AT ME NOW?

There's good ideas here - I like that it makes things a bit more dangerous for griefers who go after newbs/little guys. There's just more questions than answers right now...

    STOP CLOSING MY SOCKETS!!

It got irritating enough that now I'm here, posting as well.

East Coast, Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh. I'm getting the "closed socket" disconnect both at work (I believe the ISP is Verizon Fios) AND at home, ISP is Comcast "Xfinity". Was NEVER getting this before, now I'll have all 5 accounts booted all at once. FRUSTRATING!!!

I have no idea how to do a trace, so if someone can tell me how/when/where, I'll see if I can mess with it.

The way to fix most of the issues is REALLY REALLY simple:

    1. Bring back the buttons for Ships, Items, Corp hanger. Make these open in a separate windows with tree view minimised as default, and remember the position.

    2. Bring back the right click options on ships for opening drone bay, cargo bay, ore hold, ship maintenance bay, fuel bay, corp hanger. Make these open in a separate windows with tree view minimised as default, and remember the position. It is REALLY not a bad thing to have right click options that improve functionality. Remove the redundant ones, like undock etc.

    3. When in space, make the cargo icon open the cargo bay only (Cargo icon = cargo bay << simple). Make this open in a separate window with tree view minimised as default, and remember the position. If we want the inventory, we can use the icon in the Neocom, that’s what it is for (Inventory icon = inventory << again simple)

    4. Give the option to hide the ISK value. It takes up space and is a gimmick that is only used rarely. Better still provide a button that will calculate this amount if needed.

    5. Reduce the size of the volume bar in containers back to what it used to be, it is too big and takes up space.

These are very simple fixes, which would go a long way to reducing the disgust and contempt people have for CCP at the moment, I cannot believe that they would be difficult to implement. So, please put your ego’s away and just do it.

Who the hell came up with this primary and secondary window idea ? For the love of God please wise up and just do what is necessary to make this somewhere near useable and not come up with these half assed ideas.

Was there a tremendous need for you to post this twice?

And if CCP does decide to get rid of the "secondary windows" - the only shred of decency left from the original inventory system - I can absolutely assure you beyond any shadow of a doubt that I WILL quit playing this game.

But I applaud the (counts on one hand) 4 people who've posted in these 6 pages about how "Oh you guys are stupid I love the new UI! *heart heart kissy kiss* CCP you taste so yummy!"

The new UI is CRAP - it has always BEEN crap, it will always BE crap, and just because you're a Mr. Hankey fan doesn't mean the rest of us are going to suddenly change our minds.

I've asked nicely in the past, but seeing as you guys just hit my credit card again, nice time is over. GIVE US WHAT WE WANT - SCRAP THE UNIFIED INVENTORY.

  • CANNOT INSTALL EVE - version 382307!! in EVE Technology and Research Center

Alright - I found them in the AppData/Local/CCP/Downloads folder - interestingly enough, the "1 of 2" .7z file was only 1,000 bytes - same size I was getting from the offline installation site before it would error out. (By the way, Windows search didn't find them - I had to poke my nose around in folders Windows didn't like me poking around in!)

Reattempting download (got some WEIRD symbols in the EVE Online Setup window after "Initializing..." before it began downloading, but wasn't fast enough to get a screenshot.)

If this doesn't work, I'll take the work machine (laptop) home to redownload over my own IP, and will post my results here.
