  • So long and thanks for all the fish. in EVE Communication Center

Fly safe Malcolm. Twitter will bring you back.

I absolutely love Eve. I'm not leaving because I don't like playing or am bored. I've been in hisec, wormholes, and finally nullsec. Joining Northstar and TNT resulted in some of the funnest times I've had in a video game. They, and the CFC, are completely awesome people and I am sad to be leaving.

Since I'm leaving because I don't want to invest time and money in a game where I can get permabanned because of secret rules, I don't see me returning. If I do, I'll be Velator poor, because I really did give away all my stuff :).

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. Fly dangerous.

  • So long and thanks for all the fish. in EVE Communication Center

I don't know how to play a competitive video game with secret rules. So I've decided the only winning move is not to play. No you can't have my stuff. I gave most of it to James 315, one of the best friends Eve Online has and without whom I'd have stopped playing after 3 months instead of almost two years.

  • 4 weeks without answer from Support in EVE Communication Center

4 weeks seems long based on tickets I've filed. However every response I've gotten can basically be summed up as "Sucks to be you." So you might like the uncertainty of not knowing better.

  • Using Concord for protection in EVE Communication Center

The main limitation is the same one gankers have. You can't recycle the alt you are using to spawn CONCORD when his sec status gets bad. You just gotta live with it, rat for sec, or use tags.

Thankfully there is also the New Order of Hisec, and their own set of rules to bring balance to hisec mining.

You may not use your own or any third-party software, macros or other stored rapid keystrokes or other patterns of play that facilitate acquisition of items, currency, objects, character attributes, rank or status at an accelerated rate when compared with ordinary Game play. You may not rewrite or modify the user interface or otherwise manipulate data in any way to acquire items, currency, objects, character attributes or beneficial actions not actually acquired or achieved in the Game.

written clear as day. this was copied and past from eve website http://community.eveonline.com/support/policies/eve-eula/

Since isboxer on its own isn't using macros or stored rapid keystrokes, CCP has said it is a-ok. Isboxer does send your input to multiple windows at a time, but since it is you doing it, they don't have a problem with it. Since it is their rules governing your behavior, they are free to make exceptions whenever they like.

Without pretend enemies for made up reasons, what would be the point of EVE? Hopefully most of us understand the "pretend" part. IRL I'd have a beer with just about anyone in this game.

    7. Isn't "CODE" hosting an event all month to simply kill Venture's in high sec? So you are telling me, I now have to simply hide so people who can one hit kill me before I can even move don't murder me? For an entire month? Also, to pretend like this isn't targeting new players is simply incorrect. Venture's are the starter mining vessel, plain and simple. Chances are if someone is in one, they are new.

Thank you for sharing your vast experience in a post that is even more vast. FYI: the Venture is a favorite ship of mining bots.

You're not safe. Not in any space in New Eden. You undock, you risk non-consensual sexy time for any variety of made up reasons. May it ever be so.

Sorry, I may have been unclear there. Tipping your hat to them in local chat certainly won't draw their ire. It is simply that, based on my own experience with ganking, that's not the typical reception a Catalyst pilot receives.

Yes, like most EVE players, if you start off by insulting us, our desire to see your explosion goes up.

I've done my fair share of ganking, only difference is I don't tout it about trying to look like some sort of bad ass for doing something that requires very little effort.

When code starts ganking afk mission running domi's and marauders, I'll be impressed. Til then you are just going after the softest targets possible, while thinking of yourselves as some serious internet tough guys.

Hey, I'm not CODE, but we ganked a special edition Rokh, mining in Hek this weekend. Does that count? Yes...he was T2 tanked...and yes, it was hilarious. Three glass cannon Talos well spent.

You don't have to be in CODEdot to be in/support the New Order. Tons of us aren't. Gank in the name of James 315 and the Halima Code of Conduct. Be ready for awesome killmails and even more awesome tears from carebears who think they are the special snowflakes of EVE and shouldn't have to participate in spaceship PVP.

I have this nagging feeling that, somehow, our logic and reasoning has fallen on deaf ears. This makes me sad.

The question, "Why did you start playing Eve?" comes to mind.

No doubt about the logic on deaf ears bit.

The real queston is this: Before you started playing EvE, did you bother to do any research at all about the kind of game you were getting into or did you just say, "durr, shiney spaceships fun," and start an account?

I honestly don't think the latter is possible. I have met very few MMO players who haven't ever heard of EVE. And of those, it's mostly because they have only just started playing MMOs in general, and think that WoW and GW2 and LOTRO are the only ones that exist.

If someone genuinely doesn't know what they're getting into when they sign up, that requires a level of ignorance that is truly hard to maintain.

Sorry to disappoint, but until December 2012 I'd never heard of EVE. I had signed onto the Star Citizen kickstarter and was reading more about it when i came across references to EVE. Signed up for the trial, thought EVE was pretty cool. Then got podded in hisec by an evil pirate and realized then that EVE was like no game I'd ever played before and also just might be the best game I'd ever played.

I played Star Trek Online, SWTOR, and GW2, but never much looked at 3rd party sites so I never heard about EVE. I wish EVE had planetary missions like STO, spaceships and avatar gameplay are not mutually exclusive, but I was right: EVE is the best game I've ever played. I hope CCP doesn't mess it up by giving in to the carebears.

Yes , i'm asking CCP for making a commitment.

Eve just got a new Executive Producer who promptly gave interviews on the future of Eve as well as an AMA on reddit. This very question was asked by them and answered in vague ways. But keep plugging away here on the forums, maybe you'll get a scoop!

I love the death and destruction waiting for the naive in Rancer, I still remember vividly the quick death that came to me and my frigate years ago while I was still exiting warp. I was dead and podded before I even knew what hit me. As an EVE player it was enlightening. That said, one guy controlling 8-10 apocs is lame. Back in the day I used to roll around solo in my smartbomb rokh in my alliance's 0.0 territory. It wasn't the greatest plan in the world and it was rather unproductive, but at least I wasn't rolling with 8 accounts and 8 apocs in Rancer.

Necros a thread to talk about his leet solo fail rokh experiences. Cool story bro.

Looking at this logically - there seems to be only one way that you will move anyone from anywhere - from the inside.

The only way to remove goons is to destroy (in what way is up to you) the management which also means you should already in there and want to do it.

Then you have to find some way to disrupt or destroy the moon mining capability as you do remember they have a stranglehold on the t2 material market don't you?

THEN you have to get the renters not to pay - all at once.

After that it should be dead DIS

    ...Profit ...

    Nope.

The only way to remove us is to revamp null radically. Neither us or N3/PL are going anywhere until this happens.

    CCP will save us!

Er, them? I mean... wait Vince Draken will save them. Us. No, he'll kill us...

    Well, either way problem solved.

  • Starting out? in EVE Communication Center

I keep seeing bounty hunting come up, but I don't think that is a viable career. If you can make isk at bounty hunting then you are using an exploit. A better choice is starting an isk doubling service. In New Eden it is ok to scam players out of their isk, but if you scam CCP out of isk with profitable bounty hunting then it is an exploit.

I did the sov thing; i hated bashing structures. and waiting at a titan for 2 hrs only to have op called off. Then when I wanted to pve I had to fight over ded's and anoms with other members - it sucked (for me)

I see posts like this all the time and they just make me more thankful for Tactical Narcotics Team and my corp Northstar Cabal. I fly in fleets when I want to fly in fleets. I rat when I want to rat. If my fav ratting system is a little full (and it only is during EUTZ), then I take a jump bridge or a gate to the next system and find plenty of Guristas to kill.

I know I'm supposed to be a goon pet and supposed to feel bad about how I'm forced to bash structures in bombless bombers. But instead I get in awesome fleets with usually cool FCs and we kill stuff. I've been on a few structure bashes in a Baltec fleet and once we got there to chase off the bad guys, a zillion capitals cyno in and blap the tower. And even those fleets no one said I had to attend. I could have just sat in an isktar and ratted if I'd like. Luckily, I think ratting is boring and blowing up our pretend enemies for made up reasons is way more fun.

So sorry about all those joes in bad alliances and corps. Sure wish you could be in CFC/TNT/NSC because we're having a great time doing whatever the hell we want.

Just join the CFC. Then you can rat. There will sometimes be PvP but consider those times your rent. They will be considerably less than 8-10 hours a day, and the rest of the time you can become rich and awesome.

That's just what I did. Now I'm rich. Still not awesome though.

OP: Since you are comfortable in wormholes, you could get a nice hole, even a C1 since you don't really care about the wormhole itself, with a nullsec static. Then every day, just jump out and rat it up. The nice thing is you get bounties for killing the rats. You don't have to salvage the rats and haul to Jita to get paid. And with the wh you have a place to retreat to as well as a new ns system every day.

But you should also just consider joining one of the established ns alliances. I've had nothing but fun in my 2 months since joining the CFC.
