  • Pilot Disqualification from ATXIII for flying for multiple teams in EVE Communication Center

I hate to continue my own flagellation, but I've been watching the recent developments myself. I assure you, while I did technically break the rules, I reject the term cheat, as I gained absolutely nothing from the offense.

Completely aside from that, however, is the fact that CCP needs to separate the tournament from the Eve meta, or things like this will continue to happen. Imagine if I didn't fly on my main, but just on my alt, and then flew my alt against my main's team, and tackled my alt's logi because my loyalties were to my main's team, all of which is entirely by the book legal. This kind of stuff needs to be removed from the tournament.

The more bright lines there are, the less chance an idiot like myself will make a mistake trying to be good at Eve.

  • Probing Revamp Discussion in EVE Gameplay Center

Scanning is one of the few things in which player skill and knowledge are a significant factor.

I don't really understand what you want with automated probing. This is another activity you stick on an alt and go AFK and come back and have it fixed. Everything CCP has been doing is moving away from this direction, which IMO is good for the game. The more people are sitting at their computers playing the game, the more content for everyone.

As long as there's a modicum of difficulty left in wormholes, the more they stay a place for the few and not the many.

  • Pilot Disqualification from ATXIII for flying for multiple teams in EVE Communication Center

Holy **** I hop on reddit and I am one of the top stories. **** is surreal.

There was no malicious intent from my point at all as far as breaking tourney rules. I apologize to CCP and to the wider Eve Tournament community. Without a doubt I should have been certain on the rules, but I did discuss it with KICK captain Bei and was under the impression I could fly as long as it was not against each other. I promise it won't happen again, CCP, thanks for not banhammering me. If I wanted to keep it from CCP I would not have the same email and payment information on all my accounts. I hope that is enough reason for CCP to believe this was an innocent mistake and not malicious. I imagine it didn't take Sherlock Holmes to figure out it was 1 person with multiple accounts.

This is my first year in the tournament and I loved every second, on both teams. Test bros I seriously love your alliance and I did make real friends there. I am a USTZ guy in an EU alliance, so I was just having fun where I could. I don't mind a burned alt. Hopefully there's no hard feelings, but it's Eve, so if there is, I get it. GL Saturday.

Is it really "power projection", just to be able to warp as a group to a "stargate"? That seems pretty much standard travel outside of wormholes.

Local is standard outside of wormholes.

It would suck if you fix this change so the 50 man fleets of bad are happy.

If you are interested in changing things so that people fly their individual ships, then change it so people fly individual ships. In wormholes this means something different than k-space. Just like we don't have local, we also warp between sigs. Does that make fleets harder? Sure, but that's wormhole space.

This is one of the best things you've done for wormholes in a long time. Please don't blow it by "fixing" it.

So you will now implement automatic bookmarking at a corporation and alliance level yes? Or is this just another way to **** up wormholers now. Since WE WILL have to wait for the bookmarks to propagate (up to 5-10 mins) unless we have to have a scout at the exact warp in at every single fight.

Example if you have a group consisting of more than just 1 corp.

Group A wants to fight Group B
Group A consists of multiple corps
Currently Group A can fleet warp onto the enemy fleet or wormhole without everyone involved having a propagated bookmark.
However after this change if the group does not have the bookmark then they have no way of getting into the fight at the same time as the rest of the fleet. So all fights will be delayed until everyone has the bookmarks <10 mins.

    Good job CCP... Roll

    +1

I can no longer warp my entire fleet to the hole and expect them to land in a cohesive group, first my T3's land and get primaried then a minute later my Bhaals land and then 2 minutes later my triage lands by that time we are all dead. And that's assuming all of us have the BM which can take quite a long time to happen. CCP i am adamantly against this change. Please reconsider.

There is so much wrong with this post it makes me want to cry that your opinion might be considered somehow relevant.

In no situation would this ever be a problem for people who know what they're doing. If you are caught literally with your pants down, then I still have 0 sympathy because the other guys won with scouting.

  • [AEGIS] Fleet Warp Changes - Please see devblog! in EVE Technology and Research Center

I think this is a fantastic change for wormholes. Anything that makes it harder for 50 man WH fleets to function gets a thumbs up from me.

I think this change is more about encouraging the small gang playstyle. I just love the new direction of all these balances, from the sov changes to this, to half a dozen other things that have been switched up, I think you are making the game more exciting for the average player. Don't let the salt get you down, Larrakin, the direction Eve is moving is a good one, and I think people will realize it eventually.

  • [Dunk Phoenix, Lord's Servant] Intermezzo 2 in EVE Communication Center

What is with this disgusting new trend of all these people shitposting and shittalking and being shitters in people's content threads.

I like to think of myself as an honest person but some of these opinions make me feel like, jesus, just chill people. Can I make a plea that we return to the era of one or two posts of "cool vid" and everyone else just not posting?

  • Let's talk about Capitals and Supercapitals in EVE Technology and Research Center

My question is how does all of this fit into sov 5.0? (I know nothing about supers, so I can't speak to them at all.)

I am a huge proponent of small numbers of caps as force multipliers. I think they offer a very cool variety of fights in wormholes, and they allow smaller fleets to fight larger ones.

The problem, as previously stated, is large numbers of caps at once. Therefore, to me it is not about balancing capitals, as the spot they are in is not untenable. The problem is creating this new sov system to discourage groups of 50 capitals flying around at once. How do we have a system where the best method of play is putting a couple triage carriers at 10 different nodes instead of piling them all into one node as 50 slowcats? I know I am biased but I think if you could encourage that type of playstyle with the mechanics a lot of these pilots who think capitals are useless would go away. I have a hard time feeling carriers and dreads are useless when I see how they are used.

If you're new you should join EUNI. There's simply no better way to get acclimated to Eve, where you get a taste of everything and can then make an informed decision, all the while rubbing elbows with people who, in a few years, will be major players in all areas of the game.

  • No Idea What I'm Doing in EVE Communication Center

I haven't given out a ton of newbie advice, but none of these replies seem very structured to me. So, hopefully I can give you a bit of an actual answer.

Eve is a big place, but at the start I would like to simply it for you and divide it into two separate categories.

    1. PvP
    2. Getting rich

Be aware that is a huge simplification. And there are plenty of roles like diplomat or logistics in which you neither get to get rich or shoot people. Don't ask me why people do those.

For your first few months, I would pick ONE of those, and focus on it. Eventually most people will have a little of column A and a little of column B (and sometimes neither), but Eve is IMO too large to throw all of that at a person at once.

Once you've made your choice, you basically cut half of the game out of what you're learning from the start. Doing PvP? Who cares how to manufacture stuff. Getting rich? You won't have to learn how to fit a ship for the next few months.

That's my advice. Once you've made that initial choice, there are a myriad of options available, but you'll probably want to get acquainted with as many as possible, and it gives you a direction of what kind of people to get to know.

I realy like the change, that higher mass ships spawn further away from the wh.

In the current state it is nearly impossible to get a fight with wh residence, if they are active and don't want to fight.
I face this situation on a nearly daily base, that i scan a wh, scout it, form a fleet, suddenly caps appear on my side and 5 sec later the wh is gone.
That is a risk free method to avoid any unwanted contact and should be gone

    Good change CCP!

Yeah, good point. You know, I hate people avoiding unwanted contact, too. Completely risk free.

I'll tell you what, let's keep this and add in these things called wormhole shipyards. You could basically put yourself inside them whenever you felt like. It would make it easy for people to keep their possessions, but most importantly it would allow people to reship for PvP. And then you could combine it with something like an alert that went off whenever you were in danger. That way whenever someone came by, you could always ship up and bring the fight!!

Dear CCP...please institute some type of intelligence verification for this forum.

Shouldn't the real problem here be that groups of players have to "rage roll" wormholes in the first place to look for targets? It seems like CCP is trying to force player interaction on a process that most people use to try and facilitate player interaction. The problem to me seems to be that ragerolling is necessary, not that players have found the optimimum way of doing it.

Why not create a weapon system, bomb, mobile structure etc that will instead collapse the worm hole after a set amount of time? It can go a number of ways, players either shoot at the wormhole with a specialized weapon system to collapse it, so more players equals faster collapse, you set a mobile structure and after x amount of time the wormhole collapse around it, have it be a like a graviton mass accelerator and causes gravity spike that collapses the hole or what not.

The trick is whenever this process is initiated on one side, alert the other side it's going on. This will generate an opportunity for another group to try and disrupt and engage.

I just came up with this in 2 seconds, i'm sure it can be much more refined, but it seems silly to treat a symptom when the problem is with ragerolling itself.

This idea is amazing. In fact, let's just give the wormholes hitpoints, you don't need to worry about making a new type of weapon. Should probably make sure it has millions of hitpoints to make it difficult enough.

You know, I changed my mind. I like the anchoring of structures instead. Let's call it a WCU. A Wormhole Claim Unit. Once you anchor it you collapse the wormhole you now own.

I'm actually surprised it only took you 2 seconds to come up with that. I think it would take normal people around six months.

  • [Hyperion Feedback Thread] Mass-Based Spawn Distance After WH Jumps in EVE Gameplay Center

I do want to make a post early on in this thread, that the idea of shaking up combat in wormholes is great. This just isn't the answer. I would like to see a different change be implemented than roll back this completely.

Speaking as a pilot in a small/med wormhole corp, the spawn distance change will be a detriment to our ability to generate content in an already highly risk-averse area of space. I do not support this change.

    RNG ganks != goodfights.

a lot of the arguments against this change appear to stem from a premise that wormholers are entitled to control every aspect of the wormhole in which they live, rather than wormholes being a place where you deal with uncertainty and must constantly adapt

that doesn't seem like a good argument to me

The premise that the opposition starts with is that we would like to be able to generate content for ourselves.

It is what the entire wormhole community, such that it is, is based on. Adaption has nothing to do with this change, it will simply result in less structured PvP, and more one off random cap ganks. It's for that reason it is a poor change.

  • Distance that you're being ejected out of a wormhole depends on mass in EVE Gameplay Center

How much does this really effect ragerolling?

You keep a cloaked scout at a tac with a couple rapiers and bounce the caps. The effort is increased, no doubt, but I don't think the time is significantly increased compared to the current use. It does change how you collapse in the face of hostiles, how you commit, and basically everything else around how engagements happen in wormholes.

I guess I'm pretty interested in the devblog, but I don't think people should jump out the window just yet.
