  • Moderation discussion thread in EVE Communication Center

Just experienced the worst moderation on another forum. I got a three day ban for politely disagreeing with a forum admin and having evidence to back my assertions.

CCP, thank you for not being that bad.

And lets not get started on the Travis-ty on a popular Star Wars forum a few years back.

These forums have issues, yes. But they are by far not the worst out there.

  • [Proposal] Fix Crimewatch before forcing it upon us in Council of Stellar Management

I'm not going to say that I don't like this exploit, because I do.
What I like more is that the new bounty system is planning on letting anyone place a bounty on anyone else regardless of their sec status!

    Check it out

    Quote:

Bounties can now be placed from anywhere in the game, not just the Bounty Office in stations. Bounties on the same character go into a joint pool, same as now. The minimum ISK amount for placing a bounty is increased from 5k to 100k. Also, bounties can now be placed on anyone, we’re removing the -1 security standing requirement currently in the bounty system.

    Poor miners......
    HAHAHAHA!!!

Not like that isn't going to be abused to hell and back.Lol

Somehow I feel this is not the desired fix to the bounty system we have been asking for.

  • Legit Question: Why do you post with an alt? in EVE Communication Center

I don't post with an alt, however it makes sense for a few reasons.

    1) trolling

    2) making arguments that may not go over so well with your main's corp/alliance

    3) too lazy to switch the posting character

    4) hide their main from potential enemies, especially in the C&P section when hiring mercs... at least that used to happen

Me, I don't care too much about all that.

  • Fixing trade window Scams in Council of Stellar Management

I use the trade window all the time and not once have been scammed (including trades with well known scammers in Amarr and Jita).

  • Why have the guns all the same? in EVE Gameplay Center

Unless you know you will be facing weak targets at both range and close up, it is much more efficient to use one or the other and switch ammo types.

However, mixed gun setups tend to = loss mails, so its a pretty bad idea outside of some specific missions.

Edit: I would be glad to test this with you. Pick the ships, I'll take the same gun setup, you can have split guns.Smile

  • NEW T1 LOGI BETTER THAN T2??? WTH in Council of Stellar Management

This actually means we can now use cheap T1 logis for those annoying to fix POS guns.

  • Bye bye safe orca hauling in EVE Gameplay Center

    Explain?

  • NEW T1 LOGI BETTER THAN T2??? WTH in Council of Stellar Management

T1 logis are still worse, just not useless.

If you are running backup on a level 4, any cap strong ship would do.

Any dedicated nuet ships would be highly suspicious, but a lot of BCs and BS can nuet just fine as long as you don't need to do both tank and dps as well.

Also, be wary of your skill training if you give up an API that would show it. They might get an idea of your plans that way (not sure how, but just try to skill normalish).

I suppose a Cane with six guns and two neuts could do the trick just fine.

and that would not arouse suspicion.

Although i might have to work on the cap skills

That might work out well. But yeah cap skills and a passive tank fit would be required. Also if the target is using a BC or a T3, make sure to include a web (speed tanking is easy in level 4s until the web appears).

  • What happens when an alliance "wins EVE"? in EVE Communication Center

Why should CCP get involved when literally everybody else in EVE is too incompetent to take on a single alliance? Hypothetical scenario of course.

    Comedy gold right there.

If (as he asked) one alliance were successfully able to take and establish control of all of null-sec, how would *anyone* else have a chance at them?

Goonswarm was built upon the idea that if you put enough bodies in cheep hulls into a system you can kill even the most powerful fleet. If the players of highsec had any balls worth talking about they could literally stand up and crush us within a few weeks.

Right now supercaps are relegated to Sov grinding and don't have near the force that they used to on the battlefield.

Agreed. A fleet of noobships of all of high sec would blot out the suns of null (and pummel any fleet they encounter)... if the grid would ever load.Lol

  • What happens when an alliance "wins EVE"? in EVE Communication Center

If an Alliance managed to become strong enough (and thus it must be large enough member wise) to control all of null sec, it would split apart from within long before it could succeed in such a venture.

And if such did succeed, the universe would implode.

Also... controlling all of null would not be winning EVE. You can't win something that does not have a defined end.
Alternatively, I have already won EVE because I completed my long term goal of having fun and enjoying the company of an entertaining corp.

  • Benchmarking Eve - Windows 7 vs Windows 8 in EVE Communication Center

With that setup you likely won't notice much of a difference. The larger differences would be more noticeable on higher systems.

On a side note, I almost hope Windows 8 fails for PCs... its a mobile OS, pretending to be for a desktop.

are there missioning bots? I don't know that I've ever seen one...

That said, in order for it to work out well against npc targets then CCP would have to revamp how the group popups work in space.

Cause when you look at a group of npcs and it expands, it normally doesn't work out that well....

Yes there are missioning bots. And ratting bots. And even a PvP bot.

And your idea would be very easy for bots.

  • Crew ship in Council of Stellar Management

I am against anything that is experience based on activity (since EVE is based on time). No XP grind.

However, as crews are part of the lore (even on pod ships, just not needed for the same tasks as on normals), I would like a way to mess around with such. AFTER the rebalance is finished.

So this is a general question to those who moderate (and if it has been asked and answered before I apologize): is there a set policy for when to remove posts without saying why? Or is it up to the moderator to let us know why they made the posts vanish?
    Just curious.

When we remove posts, we generally have an unwritten rule that we leave a post that explains why some posts were removed. If there is no reason listed, feel free to either report the thread with the question or file a petition to get an explanation.

    Got it. Thanks.

  • [Proposal] Remove AFK cloaking in Council of Stellar Management

    Azrael Dinn wrote:

    Remove AFK | Cloaking

There are 2 distinct parts here:

    1) AFK
    - Mining
    - Ratting
    - Hauling
    - Market trading

    2) Cloaking
    - Intel spy
    - Cyno drop
    - 'Safe' travel
    - Bombing
    - Terrorizing
    - Bounty hunting

Please pick one and make arguments on it separately, then check to make sure your suggestion does not negatively impact any of the other listed areas. If it does, go back to the drawing board and start over. After finding your best answer please post it along with all your back research for peer review.

    That is all.

No, this topic there is only "Remove AFK cloaking". There is just one part here. If we go for all AFK activities we can close the game right now cause you can list manufacturing, reserch, invention, P.I. and almost all other industry based activities to your part 1 and without those there will be no EVE cause you would not have ships to blow up.

I think the quoted poster was providing a guideline for those making suggestions to counter afk cloaking.

He was saying, in order to come up with a counter method, you must check each activity listed to make sure you are not impacting them in a negative way.

This has so far been shown to not be possible.

Also... some posts have gone missing from this thread...Sad

Plus, why shouldn't there be psychological warfare in this game? I think it's a great addition.

Let's face it, when they decloak, they are just as killable as you. This really is a none issue and you can take precautions. Sure you may still diaf, but as I said, the only guarantee here is the easy mode local intel.

Want changes to cloaks? Then let's deal with the reason for AFKing first please.

Not to invalidate your perspective, I'd like to get into that shortly. However I have yet to receive a response to the proposal of diversifying cloaking modules based on task and effectiveness, versus one Uber cloak. Would really appreciate some feedback.
Also considering within that suggestion, is the allowance to maintain undiscoverable cloaking as it stands.

but perhaps that is for another thread. Either way. Lets look at the reasonhs for AFKing. I presume you have some ideas, as you brought it up.

I've mentioned the biggest issue with that idea. It does nothing to solve afk cloaking, just adds unnecessary complexity.

An afk cloaker would just make sure to use the same setup as the active spy, and thus will still be "invincible".

All the idea would do is make Devs work more and make cloaky hunters have a little more risk in an already highly risky, low reward profession (either that or I just suck with bombers Lol).

There simply is no way (still considering betting a PLEX on this) to hinder afk cloakers without making things more difficult for active cloak activities, some of which are already difficult and risky for very little reward (note: while modifying cloaking itself).
There may be a way to remove the silly terror that is afk cloaking, but the answer lies with the other mechanics responsible, not cloaking (cynos, local, etc). Or just growing up and learning the many ways to deal with potential intruders already used by WH corps and a few sov holders.

EDIT: Devon thank you for at least being reasonable with your debate style. I really like the lack of personal attacks and whining. rare thing, but makes these discussions actually enjoyable.
