  • Testing a major revision to CREST in EVE Technology and Research Center

Looking forward to some fleet-integrated apps :)

Would it be possible to also implement the location endpoint? This would make it easier to link buy & sell orders (and maybe other resources using it) to stations and their solar systems.
    Example:
    https://public-crest.eveonline.com/market/10000033/orders/buy/?type=https://public-crest.eveonline.com/types/2193/
    has a location:
    https://public-crest.eveonline.com/universe/locations/60004387/
which gives route was not found.

  • Dev blog: Unboxing the new Camera in EVE Online in EVE Information Center

Let me just reiterate my post in the february feedback thread in the proper topic (https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=6332437#post6332437)

You used to be able to track a ship until it disappeared off grid, so that you could get a good sense of direction where they warped (the middle of the screen would point at it).

It is no longer possible to center the camera on bookmarks. This feature is necessary when you want to accurately d-scan a bookmark within 5 degrees.

Also, it would be nice if we could center the camera on signatures from the probe scanner.

Also been having a lot of random socket closed recently. Not sure what the cause is.
Three times in the last hour I've been disconnected.

I want to show the effective (weakest) resistances (determined on basis of a large EFT fittings "database" with commonly used fittings). So in some cases the natural resistance hole is not the weakest in my sheet, because the ship has the slots (and CPU or PG) to close that hole without losing to much of the fitting objective. Of course it is a subjective value, but in many cases it suits quite accurately.

Maybe I should change the name from "resistance" to "resistance to shoot at", because I calculate the EHP of a ship (combined shield and armor values). So for the Confessor the ARMOR resistances are indeed THE, KIN, EM (and many popular fits have EHP/resistance in that order) but in my opinion/EFT-fits-db the average minimal EHP/resistance is THE, EM, KIN. But I am open to change that values if someone tells me, that I am talking bulls*it because of XYZ! Often enough the first three or the second and third EHP/resistance are very close together so the resistances order doesn't matter that much anyway.

About the Harbinger values: When I determined the resistances values, I weighted shield fitted fleet fits too high. Shield Harbingers are not that popular, so I will edit the values. Thanks for pointing it out!

Maybe I would avoid confusions if I would show the (shield/armor specific) base resistances instead, but I think in general the current subjective values are more helpful...

In my opinion you can post 'bare' resistance order. The player himself may then decide if he would like to shoot at the normal resist hole or try a secondary or tertiary resist.
Also, your average EHP will probably not take into account reppers, which are a significant confounding factor for taking into account shield EHP on an armor ship and vice versa.

Now a big contribution is armor resists if the ship is usually armor tanked, or shield resists if it is shield tanked. If both types of tanks are common you may want to post both resist profiles (if they are very different).

  • Inf[l]ight - D-Scan Filter & Ship Database - March 1.7 in EVE Gameplay Center

Could you detail how you calculate the resists?
For example, the Harbinger has as base stats expl, kin, ther,em on the armor resists, but on the website actually is the, kin, exp(,em).
The confessor also has two resists swappped: the,em,kin instead of the, kin,em.

  • Dev Blog: Scanning and Probing Changes in Parallax in EVE Information Center

Hi, I'm in love with the new hotkeys for scanning, saves me a lot of mousing!
I also agree with all of the improvements you have posted in the opening statements (especially highlighting of sigs when probes are over them).

I live in wormhole space, and have some comments on the probe scanning UI:

    1. When the probe scanning box is close to something that I have not hidden on the map such as planets (because I want to see them), then it often happens that I drag the label of the planet / the planet itself instead of the probes.
    2. I'm unsure when, if ever, you would want to drag a planet on the map.
    3. Is it possible to make the make the new map pinnable? So that I do not drag it accidentally, as that has happened to me a few times.
    4. Is there a shortcut for opening the new map? F10 still opens the old map.
    5. When alt-tabbing, the probe box (to drag probes with) sometimes disappears until I press Shift.
    6. Is it possible to toggle certain filters without clicking on the Filtered tab in the Probe Scanner?
    7. Sometimes I would like to enable/disable anoms by just pressing '1' and not using the mouse.
    8. (Minor) Why are the probes not sorted alphabetically? And why does the ID of the probes not always start at 1?

    Furthermore, for the D-Scan UI:

    1. Why is it no longer possible to toggle your active overview on the d-scan?
    2. I used this often when I wanted to get an unfiltered overview, because unfortunately my d-scan overview is about 30 overviews settings down from the 'All' preset, since I use an overview pack.
    3. (minor) Add some better feedback when the d-scan is active, it currently has a very mild animation so I tend to spam the d-scan hotkey just to be sure.
    4. Something like a button-press would be great.
    5. I am able to type '999' AU in the distance and press enter to activate the scan, without getting an error. The error only happens after clicking.

  • Succession Trials Candidacy – House Kador in EVE Communication Center

    Your Royal Highness Uriam Kador,

I, Calavoow2, present myself as candidate Champion for the Amarr Succession Trials. The untimely death of Empress Sarum, first of her name, has left a deep impression in us all, as in me, when I witnessed the swift strike by the Drifters on her Highnesses' TES Seraph. It is my duty to Champion for the House most suited for the Throne, House Kador, and restore the splendor of old.

For some time now, I have been living in Wormhole space, those lawless systems beyond the unfathomable wormholes. Even before the Drifters started encroaching on Amarr territory, have I been fighting their kin, the Sleepers, every day, returning precious research materials to the Empire. Wormhole space is ruthless, but this has also instilled into me a sense of independence, cunning and leadership. Every day have I lived under the threat of being attacked by other capsuleers, and every day have I also instilled that fear into others. What better stage exists to forge a Champion?

The combat I have experience with ranges from small to medium sized fleets. My corporation is but a small group compared to the alliances in Null-Security space. However, this has made us proficient in fighting with small, but strong strike groups. What better experience to mold a Champion and his team?

Lastly, I strategise on possible fleet compositions, ranging from niche to the powerful. As such, I am deeply familiar with the inner workings of Amarr ships, their strengths and weaknesses, and capable of quickly fielding a strong fleet even under the varying restrictions of the Succession Trials. What better experience to steel a Champions' knowledge?

Your Honor, I humbly present myself as candidate Champion for House Kador.

    Signed,
    Calavoow2

  • Refresh token generates internal server error in EVE Technology and Research Center

i have just posed a question regarding refresh_tokens. How do you actually GET the refresh token. i have tried setting both scope and grant_type to refresh_token but i still get a null refresh_token........

You have clearly GOT a refresh token so you might be able to answer my question.

    Thx in advance.

My login link is along the lines of

It is required for the response type to be "code", or otherwise you will not get an access code, but instead an authentication token (and no refresh token). As well as scope "publicData". I think on this last point foxfour was still working on getting a refresh token even if you request no scopes.

  • Third-party documentation discussion in EVE Technology and Research Center

Today I came across Swagger: http://swagger.io/ which is used to document REST APIs at a multitude of companies (e.g. Riot). Because the specification is formal, it can be used it to generate API libraries for interaction (https://github.com/swagger-api/swagger-codegen). If you're lucky, there is already support for generating api docs as a server add-on. Although a public effort may produce better results.

The one thing that prevents this, is that the endpoint urls have to be known (and fixed). But in the CREST docs it is claimed that

    Quote:

All resources are reachable from the root API entry point URI. Clients should not construct URIs, but instead follow URIs included in representations they have received. URIs may be stored as bookmarks, shared in IMs, sent as emails and published on web sites. CCP will endevour to support URIs as permalinks, but client applications should be able to cope with URIs becoming invalid as the API evolves and resources may be served from different locations just as web browsers cope with broken links.

Which is kind of inherently contradictory (not construct urls, but you are allowed to save them and they are permanent?).
What are your thoughts on this?

  • Refresh token generates internal server error in EVE Technology and Research Center

Ah, I found that I was sending the authentication token as a refresh token. Now I am able to request new authentication tokens.

Still, maybe the server should not respond with an internal server error, but instead with an authentication failure (as it does for the authentication code).

Thank you for the reply. Looking forward to using the refresh token :)

  • Refresh token generates internal server error in EVE Technology and Research Center

When requesting a new access token for the CREST api using the refresh token, I get the following error:

Internal server error. Error ref: 31056592-85d4-4935-81f1-30f79025b019

Anyone else having issues refreshing their access codes?
