Lets say character A puts up an order payed out of the corpwallet in Amarr, then decides to take a stroll and gets lost in space somewhere.

Now the director or CEO of the corporation of character A docks in Amarr and realizes that this character A's order is s'hit.

Why can he not change it ?

This is one of those grey areas of Eve. The trouble is that you are modifying something belonging to another toon regardless of what "journal" the transaction goes into eventually.

I think the trouble comes in two parts: Corporate sales was tacked on. Probably should say "hacked on" but I hope you get the drift. The workarounds needed to provide corporate sales created some exclusions and/or double standards (for lack of a better way to say it). Additionally, the system does not presume what the intent or plan of the original lister is. It does not allow for someone else to come along and change the plans... or sabotage those plans.

Thoughts I have many of on this topic.

Solutions to suggest, few.

I would say no.

My orders are mine. I loan them out for the corporation to use but I do not give up my ownership or control when I do so.

Corp can not change the orders a former member set up for that corp , that member can modify those orders even if he is out of the corp.

We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid.

Yeah it was tacked on. I think it's one of those things that when CCP (hopefully) starts work on the corp UI later this year, you will add this concern to any feedback threads.

(Schedules may change, priorities might change, but rumors say "2013" for corp UI changes.)

But I think there should be the possibility to cancel the orders if the member leaves corp or vanishes into real life.

AFAIK corp order gets cancelled if the role is revoked. I had a director character who put up corp orders. I removed her director role to do some role testing and all her orders were cancelled.
