Though with their switch to gradual rollout rather than big-bang rollout, the Tick and Tock would actually be regions on the graph, not single events.

Thus the "Tick" would be a (short) series of small red arrows, the "Tock" would be a (longer) series of small blue arrows, and there would be no green arrows because all the releases include necessary bug fixes and balance changes.

Continuous patching has problems including forcing players to wait several minutes once every few days before logging in.

But to be honest, don't get caught up on the specifics. I wanted to show what a CCP would/should do if they had a plan. The lack of "where are we going, and how will we get there" is the issue atm and the OP was one example of how this could be presented.

OP there are too many words and not enough numbers. How many devs are going to be reassigned to core eve and how many are going to stay in incarna/dust/wod?

They can honestly say they are doing everything you propose and still not assign more than their skeleton crew of 7 or so devs working on core eve features. And the expansions will still suck.

I have had enough verbiage I want to see the numbers. Until then its just more of the same.

Add something like "Instead of having 70% of our devs working on incarna and 10% on FIS features we are going to have 10% working on incarna and 70% on fis features." and then I would be very happy.

Actually if they said that they wouldn't have to say anything else.

There is no real link between the amount of resources a specific feature requires and the impact that said feature would provide in terms of *changing the game*.

Instead, I deliberately focused on impact combining the realities of human nature and how the player base responds. Roughly speaking, 75% of the features in every major expansion will be FiS. Whether that's 10% of the resources available, or 90%, it shouldn't really matter, because at the end, we will judge them on what they deliver.

Where in the history of Eve and the actual execution of CCP in delivering anything can you make a case that there is any real shift in direction? There is no way they can back down on the resources that have applied to the new shiny of WOD and Dust. While there are magic people in Iceland there is no indication that they can do software and even if they went on a hiring binge they can't expect to get any new resources in place and productive for 6 months.

What we got was another placation, a content free blog and yet another promise of being listened to and a future of everything we want.

So to be clear, I really like the CCP dev and game design team, I was mostly OK with their stated direction so far, I am dissappointed in the slow delivery of the promise of WIS but I am more worried at them going off doing a bunch of nonsensical stuff in reaction to a loud minority voice!

I hate the recent ideas I've heardf about 0.0, the talk of nerfing WHs, the abandoment of FW, the total ignoring of low sec and the refusal to do even simple balancing with major classes of weapons like blasters.

CCP, if you want to impress us you won't ever again make a content free promise of something soon and awesome. State what you are going to do and when, then deliver what you say, in a completed form, we already have a universe full of half done or abandoned content.

If I was given CCP tomorrow, I'd roll the Eve content and mechanics back about 3 years, it was really fun then and then I'd rethink every new idea that was implemented since then and deliver them completed and implemented correctly. I'd take the pain to get cross alliance asset sharing right, I'd roll out POSs the way they should have been. I'd introduce capitals in a manner that didn't turn them in to blobbed "I win" buttons. And I'd evolve WIS as I redid all the FIS stuff.

So CCP, stop promising and start delivering COMPLETED BUG FREE content, then you will be my heros again.

I disagree. There is a strong link between the resources given to FIS and the impact the FIS features have. If you read the minutes of the csm for the last year we hear again and again CCP agrees X needs work but they will not assign the resources to it.

After apoc they left very few devs working on FIS and the expansions were not surprisingly bad. They were the type of expansions that you woudl expect from a company that put very little resources into FIS. Now you may be able to count every minute change the last few expansions had and say "75% of the changes are in FIS" because that is nothing but a semantic shell game. But they would still be bad expansions. They were bad expansions because too few devs were working on FIS.

I can't say whether something will take allot of work or very little. But until they actually assign someone to do it, it won't get done.

Even Zulu with a hangover doesn't need a week to write a feeble shred of an excuse like that devblog. You might want to consider that it was somewhat... polished by Team :Awesome: before we got to see it.

Which would also explain why the CSM didn't get to see it first.

I guess the question now is:

Is the CCP listening?

Do the CCP have a plan? A vision or a vague idea of how they are going to be carrying on in future?

And can you please run future Dev Blogs by the CSM for the time being? One of the most important ways they are valuble is that they help you communicate with us. And that could use some buffing atm.
