Temperate Planet Resources and Dust 514

From Fanfest 2012 only temperate planets will be in Dust 514 during the first release. Temperate Planets are the only planet to produce Autotrophs (which then goes to Industrial Fibers and so on).

How might this impact the PI market?

Some speculators who haven't been paying attention will start buying that stuff and drive up the price, but it will crash again when they finaly realize that CCP has no plans to let Dust affect PI for at least another year.

The entire purpose of Dust is to affect PI, otherwise why would anyone hire Dust mercs in Eve if it wasn't to control a planets resources? What they said (if you watched fanfest) was that they didn't want to massively impact the game until they knew what was going to happen. So they do one planet, one PI material, where they can see what the impact will be before doing other planets and materials.

Also Dust is going to be released this year (so it won't be at least another year from what you said), but that being said I do think it is a long term (months) buy. It's a gamble but I think I'll take it. Just thought it was funny nobody mentioned it.

There are plans to have Dust affect sov and to allow planets to offer services (such as a refinery service). PI was hardly ever mentioned.

Agreed.

I disagree with this conclusion. I don't remember CCP anouncing immediate plans to integrate Dust and Eve to the point where PI is affected. I do not expect any concrete plans for this to be anounced before fanfest 2013, which is in just over a year.

I also find it intersting that Autotrophs are the only base resorce to have a new schematic linked to its use.(But is currently not able to be made in game.)
Augmented stem cells which can be used for growing clones.
Wasnt there some mention of being able to upgrade pods /clones in the last patch for future release?

The entire purpose of Dust is to kill other people, like every other FPS. They said Dust would have no impact at all on high sec planets, so I don't see them making high sec planets PI safe while allowing it to effect the rest. So the reason no one else is commenting about how Dust is going to effect PI is because it won't.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

it sounds like the OP wants to hear a specific answer, and won't settle with any other answer.

so to quench your thirst.

Prices are going to scale up dramaticly, Probably tilting the whole market sideways and causing a massive influx of players to highsec.

and on a more serious note, the whole idea of DUST was, as far as i know, to make sov changes a bit harder, you must control the planets before you can claim sov.
people make the auto-leap to P.I because they feel like it.

or maybe you bought up a huge chunk of items and are waiting to start a stirr?
I'd go and buy a bunch more of those items if i were you. really.

Autotrophs are a tier-0 PI product, there is no point exporting them because the export and re-import duty literally wipes out any value.
