I am trying to install eve on a new computer.

I cannot download the installer in any way possible through all options I read on the forums

My error is "error downloading payload" even though i have both payloads in the same folder as the exe.

Ive tried D / Ling through a D / L manager and other optios.

I read of a way to copy the CCP file in Program files(x(86), as well as the CCP in Users / [username] / AppData / Local - CCP to my new comp and it should work.

Where I am stuck is whee to d/l the Users / ...CCP folder because I am using C: drive as a boot only and eve drive. I do not have a users folder, because I do not want other files to me auto pushed to the c: drive. Is there a way to have the Program files(x86) CCP file point to the D: Users...CCP folder?

just installed a SSD in my machine, also had the same issue with the installer. I'm running an alienware x51 with an OCZ 120 GB SSD

I was directed here by the installer when it failed.

This version with the installer and 2 payload files installed fine for me.

I've not messed with the profile folders as yet so they are on my SSD in c:\users\username\eve as normal. I had backed up my overview files but that was all.

I'm having issues with eve crashing but i think i'm having realtec driver issues there.

This is very odd. Software shouldn't even notice the difference between a classic hard disk and a SSD (except load times and stuff).

Famished: You can use a symbolic link to make a fake directory that will point to the real directory (even if it's on another drive). The command is "mklink /D [Fake/Source] [Real/Target]". This has to be run from an elevated command prompt ("run as administrator").

Aethlyn, thank you for the response.

Do you think u could be a bit more specific on the command line i need to type as I'm not that gifted with computers as i would like to be.

if a file in the main CCP folder (im assuming thats the 10gb folder) is looking for the folder that should be in users/...appdata...CCP folder the ~2gb folder how do i go about creating that?

I am asuming i need to make a new folder name since 2 ccp files on the same drive won't work well....I do want all the eve stuff on the the ssd drive.

Slow start.

You switched to a new computer/installation and you don't know where to copy your old files as an alternative due to the installer failing?

You shouldn't have to care for the CCP folder in the users folder; it only holds your settings and stuff. Your installation folder (the one with about 10 GB and the EVE executable can be copied/moved to any location on your new PC. If you're running Windows Vista or Windows 7, I recommend putting it outside "Program Files", e.g. to "X:\Games\Eve Online". This should solve most, possibly all, permission issues.

If you're using any downloader/installer, don't put it under "Program Files". Instead put it into a empty folder on your desktop (you're safe to delete it once done).

If you're not using the installer, don't forget to grab the latest DirectX web installer from http://download.microsoft.com/.

If this doesn't solve your issue, try to describe it more in detail.
