so today i was missioning when a ninja salvager starts looting/salvaging my wrecks. i started shooting at my own wrecks just to **** him off when he dropped a can. i continued doing my thing until he abandoned the can (it went from yellow to blue in my overview). i poped what i though was a newly abandoned can (without getting an agression warning) and before i know it i was scrammed. anybody know how this happend? was the can not actually abandoned and if so why didn't i get an agression warning? is this an exploit or glitch?

thanks

Yes, shooting an abandoned wreck makes you aggro to the previous owner. If the owner didn't aggro you then you get a GCC and you get CONCORDOKKENED.

You can shoot blue wrecks that were the result of CONCORDOKKEN and then you get aggro the CONCORDOKKEN guy, but you can shoot it freely.

Abandoned can is free to loot, but still his property.
You didn't get a warning because he had stolen from you, and you could legally shoot him and his property.
Working as intended.

Post with your monkey.

Why would you bother messing with a can he abandoned in the first place?

No, it's not.

Shooting a wreck or can own by somebody is the same as shooting their ship or drones. Normally it gets you concorded, but because you have agro to him, you get no warning but you get agro to him. Applause to him for taking advantage of the stupid "nobody can have it" attitude of mission runners to get a kill.

basicly what happened is that you destroyed his property, you got no concord message because he had stolen from you which means that you can shoot at any of his property without concord intervention.

TLDR: you derped because you didn't know aggro mechanics

NiteNija gave me a very nice Golem using this mechanic.

He went the extra mile however and ungrouped his missiles and was putting on a rather nice show of Multi missile salvos blowing up multiple blue wrecks at a time. (really was a nice show!)

I took advantage, salvaged a wreck, looted it, dropped a can, turned it blue and waited.

Two impressive salvo's later and my can gets blown up, he gets tackled and held.

Having studied NiteNija's previous tactics we knew he would return in a Rook to Jam my little frigate and GTFO. We were ready with ECCM both local and remote. The Rook landed, couldn't Jam my Frigate.

Rook departed to most likely re-fit a full rack of racial specific jammers. Again I was ready with a flight of ECM drones that pounced on the now red Rook the moment it landed at the warp in beacon. There would be none of this GTFO'ing this time!

During all this, the frigate became a T3 and vast amounts of Nueting had been applied to the Golem. Now capped out, the DPS put him into low armor quickly.

With no time for him to self destruct, he ejected and left me his 3B dollar Golem. Currently for sale on the Dodixie market in contracts with T2 rigs.

I love the Sandbox, Have Nice Day!

alright, so its definitly in the mechanics of the game. still doesn't make much sense to me as you can loot all from an abandoned can without any kind of agression transfer (essencially poping it) but you can't pop it with guns...?

Shooting containers of any kind has always led to pretty strange crap happening with aggression. Pretty much don't ever shoot a wreck or container unless its yours or it belongs to someone you just blew up.

If we want to talk about strange, consider this.

I can approach a wreck you own, Salvage it and loot it, thus having it disappear from grid. I can even eject the salavge and loot, then shoot it, thus removing those items from the universe. No problem

If I try to make it disappear from grid using tools other than a salvager Mr. Concord will arrive and relieve me of my command.

So, there was a wreck, then the wreck is gone. How the wreck is made to be no more is REALLY important apparently.

Some missioners get so pissed off at ninja salvagers that they just start shooting all the wrecks/cans floating in space to try and stop the ninja without triggeering aggression. Most of the time when this happens they don't pay attention to ownership of the can/wreck since it's blue.

Best thing to do is take off ALL the guns from your ship. No guns means you cant shoot anything. If you cant shoot anything, you wont have to worry about the confusing Aggro mechanics!!! Simples!

The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long - and you have burned so very, very brightly..........

learn to read the large popup that concord puts on your screen warning you that you are breaking the law and that Concord is coming to kick your ass instead of just blindly clicking yes like most MR monkeys would do.

Normally I'm a fan of Suddenly Ninja forum posts, but you did not read and now I am sad. He did not get concorded, he gave his "ninja" aggression by shooting blue can. He specifically mentions not getting an aggression warning in the quote you took.
