Has fanfest persuaded you on DUST 514? Has it put you off?

Personally I was looking forward to it before, now I want to get into that beta!

Any reviews from those who played it?

people who played it are probably not allowed to talk about it.

as i've been since before it was a PS3 exclusive ( originally dust was for xbox) i await a chance to play it. but it can go either way. at least they are trying something new though

To be honest, it seemed a bit "clunky" for a console FPS. Of course it's beta.

Secondly, I'm not convinced that the console segment will buy into the whole "wow, there a real life players behind these [insert systems]? What, I'm on a single shard with PC MMORPG players? Wauw! I'll have to go to fanfest!" concept - when buying a console FPS.

I do applaud the experiment tho, and think it's brave ( or judging by the state of the CCP hivemind in 2011 maybe just cocky and "we can do no wrong" motivated ) that CCP is trying it. I hope it works out.

I don't have a PS3 tho and will not play unless someone throws one at me.

I wonder tho, will CCP have to throw a new version out each console cycle? Backwards compatability isn't high on Sony or Microsofts list these days. And will people buy what is in essence the same game, with upgraded graphics, again, when they already own a copy? Won't they feel entitled to not having to pay for it again?

Looks good, and it's free. I usually play an FPS when I'm not in the mood for spaceships anyway, so EVE related is a plus.

Same. On the other side if Dust comes to PC I already know about 6/10 dudes RL that WILL play it including myself.

Never underestimate the power of F2P TF2 made more money after going f2p than all the years of standard out of the box.
All they sell is hats and items you can craft in game... But mostly hats.

7 year to get max skills
strong integration with a PC game
Dust can join EVE corps

im fighting with myself if i should buy a PS3 just for 1 game

it looks great imo, and i hope the integration of the 2 worlds comes sooner than later

I was under the impression that it would be F2P, as in no subscription to CCP and, inherently to the PSN, no fee for playing online like there is with Xbox Live Gold.

I did not know that it would be a digital download, and that the client/game would be free. I always assumed that you would have to buy a physical/digital copy of the game itself. Thanks for pointing that out :)

only reason ill play it is because its has somethin to do with EVE. if it didn't and was just another fps i wouldn't even think about it.

Supposedly because they are using the Unreal Engine, porting to PC should be a relatively straightforward process, so EVEN IF the PS3 should sunset, CCP has a backup plan.

Well i'm not a faceless alt, and I'm of the same opinion, DUST isn't (currently) being released on PC therefore my thoughts on it as far as playing it are "meh" even before you take into account the (small) scale of the fights, personally I'll be playing Planetside 2 assuming of course that the commitments made in light of SOE's recent "Incarna moment" (given that I live in the UK) are actually followed up on.

The only DUST issue of any concern to me right now remains the same concern I've had since they first announced the idea, namely the Eve-DUST link, and the impact Dust is going to have on Eve gameplay.
