Bad enough with incarna I got booted due to system requirements. Fanfest speakers are showing these great graphics previews & asking the crowd if they want these things & of course they applaud but am I going to have to get a new mother @#$%^!!! computer every year to keep up with the speed up in video card requirements or will my DirectX 10 be good enough for another 2 years?

Doubtful, most games with DX11 have options to not use it P

Dx10 will be fine for years to come. Heck, Dx9 is still usable with 99% of games.

I'd say this. In almost every DX11-capable game I have ever played, there's the option to play it in DX9 mode.

As i said.
I hope we're not forced so we can stay on a little older hardware and Windows XP.

So please make DX 11 optional not forced.

I hope so but I am worried & don't want to get booted from Eve twice within a year for system requirement reasons.
Right now this is the current requiement •Drivers: DirectX® 9.0c (included) and latest video drivers
the Tesslation previews look nice but I know my PC won't be able to support a better vid card that I have right now has a DirectX 10 card slotted

To put your worries in perspective, Skyrim was built on DX9 technology.

I doubt very much if DX9 is going to be going completely away for a good few years yet. CCP may well add in DX10+ eyecandy, and I have little doubt in future, ie, the next 3 or 4 years, that shader model 4 will become a minimum requirement (over the current sm3), but honestly, the only things I know of that still run on shader 2 are some laptops that were crap when they were NEW (5 years ago), and PC's that I wouldn't use to wedge a door open with.

Aww, are you still mad about no new games being made for your Atari 65XE? Computer technology changes, you need to upgrade to keep up. Deal with it.

Doubt it unless some of the functions are a core part of the engine...Which if it's just another iteration on the existing... They're not.

You are never FORCED into anything.

Everytime CCP improves graphics you have these idiots that have to complain and ***** about how their decade old rig can't play the game anymore. Upgrade once in a while and it won't be an issue. That is the answer.

Bounties for all! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2279821#post2279821

Drag your feet long enough and you can brag you've got the most obsolete machine still sucking voltage.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.
